I'm starting to think that my current char is going places. Khelly saved, TOEF was easy, this guy is looking good.
Question is can a lvl 23 DE Wizard take out the Eternal Guardian.
My tactics are going to be pretty simple. Hit from a distance with bolt spell, wander him down a long coridor (will generate by digging if necessary), and bolt to death. Teleport to a staircase if power running low, repeat until I go up lots of levels.
Is this worthwhile, or should I be cautious?

My concern is that I'd prefer to use ball spells, but with only Fireball having any real castings left, I'm a bit nervous. Wi of 50 gives me some distance from him.

I think he'll shrug off most of your bolts, and IIRC if you kill him he'll reincarnate. I don't see why you would like to attack him, though, getting the RoTH isn't hard at all. And if you do manage to bypass him, you won't be able to use the shortcut to the surface in the down direction (from that level to Darkforge).

Purpose isnt to bypass him, I have ROHK. He gives a massive experience boost, 5 levels minimum, and will speed up my assault on the lower levels.

I'd rather try my luck with Blup's mum, though. Haven't met the Guardian since gamma 16, but... 2k HP is ALOT.

I agree with Mewto. I don't see much point in complicating your descent through the CoC. I really doubt a few extra levels are going to make *that* much of a difference. If you are skilled enough to take down the Eternal Guardian(s) without risking yourself, then you should be skilled enough to continue descending without problem - so why not just save yourself the time and hassle and continue descending?

Starting to agree with you. Didnt take too long to kill him, but only two levels gained, and a big dent in the experience required for the next level, but on the whole not really worth going for it again.

He's very easy if you get two parallel coridors, and just keep walking around. Bolt spells didnt touch him, but his low speed means that he can never get close enough to hit you.
I did lock every door in the level first to ensure that nothing would block my path.

In summary, not too much effort, but also not too much reward. Probably worth doing once, but not with the second guardian.

Playing a Troll, I normally kill him 10 times or more - it's a lot of experience.

It also conveniently moves my alignment to C so I can give stuff to the demented ratling.
Try the TiLiCat! It's experience!

How hard does the Eternal Guardian hit anyway? How many attacks per round? DV PV?

I wonder if a melee character could dent him at all... or survive his attacks.

The eternal guardian is TOUGH!!! I defeated him by using a wizard. I hit him with a bolt, then led him one step away from the staircase (if he gets off the staircase another one of him spawns in the next step). I teleported myself to the staircase, and beat the cr@p out of him. (died like 100 times b4 i killed him)

Also what I like to do after i beat the game is kill everybody in the casino. (the shop keeper is REALLY strong). I also like to take on the animated tree forest. After a while the trees get so tough you can die in one hit.
