You should check out this game called lacewing that i've been enjoying. It's a arcade style shooter that depends heavily on both skill, and what upgrades you choose. There are many ships, they all start they same and only differ in what upgrades you can get. You'll see most upgrades on more than one ship but one ship will be able to get speed for 1 point while it will cost 6 for another ship, but that ship can get missles for 1 point, so it's got some strategy to it. A typical game lasts less than 10 minutes before you get blown up. (if ur good) I don't know how many levels it has but I've gotten to 13, were you don't even have half of your upgrades yet, here's the link http://users.olis.net.au/zel/

I played that a bit a few years ago. I think the guy made a sequel with funky modular bosses.
