I'm on D7 of the CoC and cannot for the life of me find the stairs. Anybody have any advice?
I'm trying to make my way around all the edges of the map doing w5 but so far no luck...

First post too, how exciting

Don't waste (game)time on w5, 'k'ick all the wall squares you can (except for corners).
Real walls give the message "you hurt your leg".
Hidden doors and undiggable walls give "you really hurt your leg". Sometimes there's a small room generated in a place you'd never expect to find it.

When you find a hidden door, then use w5.

Obviously you should look out for empty spaces, but one important thing to remember is that when a dungeon is generated it extends to all sides of the screen. So if you don't have a room against each of the four sides of the screen then the missing room will be on the side of the screen that's missing this (and thus you can concentrate your efforts there).

One thing to try if you're desperate is using a wand of trap creation in the right spot to make a teleportation trap, and keep triggering it till you wind up in the lucky spot.

I think it's better to use w + s, not w + 5.
If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away.

Right, I typed w5 because 5 is too similar to s, and I'm sleep deprived due to some insomnia (damn those tests! Collage ain't fun anymore :( )
