Yulgash is usually a piece of cake but sometimes this guy really pushes the limit. My last char that encountered him died.

After one missile hit him he summoned molochs, fire giant kings, black wizards and berserk emperors, all within a few turns. It was actually the black wizards that ultimately killed me their summons did a very fast job trapping me and trying to hit my way out the weak monsters got exchanged by their stronger counterparts.

Has he ever been this pain in the ass for you anytime?

Never encountered Yulgash without potion of blindness? Seem to happen me 50% of the time that I don't have potion of blindness.

Wow, you really do stuff like that?
I just whack away. Any char which gets to Yulgash should kill him or he's to weak to continue...

I second any form of whacking.

The wacking away works until you loose that really promising char because he summons ancient karmic wyrms or something similiar in masses.

I always use spells. Wands of acid take him down very quickly. I've never seen him summon anything dangerous. Air temple has always been the easieset of the 5 for me (water temple's normally fine too, but the Snake can be difficult in melee if you don't employ darkness).

I think that the last time I had trouble from
Yulgash, was way back in gamma 15. I made the
mistake of trying to fight him while being
cursed and doomed. He summoned ancient karmic
wyrms, and I had no source of invisibility. I
thought that because I was curse/doomed already,
that I should just take the whacking approach.
PC died very quickly.

I think yulgash is one of those things in the game that 99 out of 100 times is really easy, but then all of a sudden he becomes insane.

I just killed him yesterday. The worst thing he summoned were acid vortices, and I let him live for quite a while (I needed the XP).

Most of the time he's a soft sucker, but every now and then he gets lucky and summons something scary.

Unless I'm mistaken, Ancient Karmic Wyrms can see invisible anyway.
Redundancy is good.
And also good.

According to the guidebook, AKW's see invisible
quite easily. The only problem with that, is
that they don't.

Isn't ancient karmic wyrm unique (that BDC quest giver) ? Or do I remember it all wrong. Perhaps that was great karmic wyrms or ancient karmic dragons.

AKW is unique, but is wishable. I am not 100%
sure, but I do think it was AKW's that Yulgash
summoned. As I mentioned though:

> the last time I had trouble from Yulgash,
> was way back in gamma 15

Memories (especially mine!) are prone to error.
It may have been GKW's instead of AKW's, but
no 'karmic' flavor of dragon/wyrm can see invis.

The guidbook should really be updated to reflect
this. It is one thing to have no information on
something, but another thing entirely to keep
showing wrong information.
