Has anyone else tried this class? They start off with 0 PV and a scalpel. You gotta use the tiny quarrels for the first couple of kills. If you can survive the first 6-10 lvls though, let me tell you. These guys are walking tanks. Triple healing rate, Find Weakness, Alertness, Healing, Herbalism and later two weapon combat. Two daggers/swords of foo and you're set. |

Find weakness, healing and herbalism are healer class skills. Alertness comes also with drakelings. Drakelings have the second fastest hp recovery time in the game (-20, while trolls get -30). The Drakeling Healer is something that isn't stoppable. Get him a spear and you're set. Get one in the month of Candle, and 50 hps regenerated per turn isn't something special :) A pessimist sees a dark tunnel. An optimist sees a light at the end of that tunnel. A realist sees a train. And the train driver sees three idiots on the tracks. |

It's easy to keep any character alive for the first few levels if you're careful enough. Avoid the bandit town, puppy quest, Kranach quest and druid quest for a start. Take the carpenter quest, but don't go below VD2 until you're at least level 8 and have okay PV from armour finds. With patience and careful play you can gradually build your character up to the point where they have the hit points and equipment for survive. Just don't stick your neck in places it might get chopped off. Maelstrom is very right though, drakelings are far superior to dark elves, especially as healers. They regenerate insanely fast, are tough and strong, usually start with a few PV and have acid spit to take down almost any early enemy (or even later enemies if you're persistent). The neutral starting alignment also makes them more flexible for quests. Waldenbrook, the dwarven shopkeeper, mumbles: "I'd offer 9 gold pieces for yer dwarven child corpse." |
