I heard the only place you can get this armor is from the emperor moloch. Well I was playing with my now level 17 trollish wizard when I ran into a moloch on level 16 of the CoC. I killed it using fireball and phase dagger, and it dropped the hulking armor (15000s). I lugged it up to dwarftown and put it on using Strength of Atlas. Now how is it possible to get this armor from a simple moloch at level 17? Is this a bug or what? |

Nope, it's normal... The only guaranteed moloch armor is dropped by the emperor, but other molochs can drop it randomly too. Watch out for armor-punching attacks--moloch armor has horrible DV. And of course you'll be slow and in danger of being crushed if you don't notice your Atlas spell running out... that is Not A Good Thing. Personally, I leave moloch armor where it is. Little effort with Smithing and some eternium ingots can improve MA's defense value to ~ [+5]. Wearing it without additional speed really isn't a Good Thing. Did you also notice how much time it takes to squeeze in or out of it? |

Not too bad... eternium armor is pretty good. I'd go for the AoLS if I were you. Die Gedanken sind Frei |

Speaking of moloch armor, i came across a moloch statue - i thought it was an altar in the ID (: blessed moloch statue [4000s] that seems a bit odd since moloch armor is 15000s DougyDougy - Dougy - DougyDougy |

dont you mean a forge? :D But then again a rat statue also weighs 4000s (or whatever statues weigh), which violates the laws of physics just as much! I mean, a 4000s rat-sized piece of rock?... Die Gedanken sind Frei |

whoops yes forge... i suppose that they're just scaled, extremely in some cases. DougyDougy - Dougy - DougyDougy |

i'd call that a very fat rat. turn him to stone and he weighs as much as a titan turned to stone. also have you noticed how all monsters, incl. dragons and rats, take up exactly the same amount of room? a tunnel big enough to pass a monsterous dragon, or a titan, or a rageing bull, can be blocked (for a very short period of time) by a single rat. thats rather physics-defying. or at least logic-defying. ivan.sourceforge.net |

Well, that is true, but if we were taking things like that into consideration, then we would be dealing in 3 dimensions. We'll just say that the dragon doesn't want to squish the rat. It would be tough to clean it all off. |

I suppose the density of the material is inveresly proportional to the weight of the monster (the bigger monsters get scared less, thus less dense rock) - keeping the weight of statues constant. DougyDougy - Dougy - DougyDougy |

So if the density varies according to the weight of the monster, then why isn't it harder to kick apart smaller statues than larger ones? A dragon statue should fly apart easily, as it is probably about the density of steel wool... on the other hand, a rat statue should have a density greater than that of lead! Hmm... That would make for a funny death message... "He broke his toes trying to kick a small statue" Die Gedanken sind Frei |

those statues should serve as blockades in small corridors. if a 100 stone door and a couple of hinges can stop monsters a 4000 stone statue should too. |

Statues are probably just scaled. It never actualy states that it's a 1:1 representation of the creature... It's possible that both a Titan and a rat statue are the same size (rat standing on it's hind legs for example). Or more likely it's just a more convenient way for Thomas to implement statues, otherwise he would need ~200 statue items (one for each monster type, like with corpses (and not all monsters leave corpes)). This way he just add a creatue name as a prefix to the "statue" item. Much less work. Jan Erik Mydland HoF admin |

You really cant apply real world logic to games. Its just easier to code. THE MESSIAH,I'm here now,Worship me. |

if a titan and a rat statue are the same, then when you cast petrify on a monster, does the monster's size change? that would be odd to watch, a dragon suddenly shrinking down to the size of a rat. ah well, you're right about can't apply logic to games. IMHO there should be more use to statues. like a statue shop where you get lots of money for statues, or sac them to a god and get a fair amount of piety. or give it to the elder in DT or Terinyo and get some reward. ivan.sourceforge.net |
