I became cursed after killing a karmic lizard (i think)I just wanted to know...

How does being cursed effect your character, or the outcome of the game?

Is there anyway to remove it?

I have had many problems with this too. My advice is to avoid close combat with anything karmic. If you want to know how to get uncursed ask another, more experienced player. I myself have gotten the black tome of alsophocas which can (if you read it enough) give you every curse possible.

In order to be uncursed you can drink from pool but it's hard to receive the wanted effect (and you can receive other bad effects) or you can eat a karmic corpse that will grant "fate smiles upon you" and uncurse. Finally you can become champion of your god and you'll gain intrinsec bless.

Just sacrifice heap of gold to your deity and your cursed status will be removed... Curse affects your luck, ie. when fire lizard shoots fire at you, your stuff will burn easier... And monsters hits critical hirts more often and other stuff... It's good to get rid of cursing as fast as possible.

curses can be removed by -

* eating a karmic corpse
* reading a scroll of luck
* a god can remove it if you make one happy
* drinking from pools
* praying

any others i haven't thort of ?

the easiest way is to make a god happy. However being cursed wont be too much of a problem aslong as you stay in a zone that's rather safe. The downsides are almost endless

* More wilderness enounters with a greater chance of ambush
* Greater chance of critical hits, more damage in general, and hits that damage armor, and penetrate armour
* Greater chance of traps and items/more items destroyed in the process.
* Monster generation takes a turn for the worse, stronger, more of them, faster breeders.
* Less chance of special things being generated when levels are created
* Dice rolls are a little bit less in your favor when levelling up

...the list just goes on and on, these are just the noticable things
