You can use any language, though some are better suited than others, C/C++ are the most commonly used, so you can get a lot for "free" by looking at the code of other games if you use it... I've hard some rumours about a "roguelike game creator" or some such beeng worked on, but I have never seen it... If you know some programming you can download Qhack from here http://adom.de/misc/qhack.php3 and play around with it for a start... Jan Erik Mydland HoF admin |

If you would like to create your own rl-games: 1) you should never to use qhack as a basis. 2) you can use any language which you know better or you would like to study (for example it is possible to write rl-game on java-script see http://www.avanor.com/download.html for example) 3) you must have some years of free time to create nice rl-game and some days to create simple 4) you must be a very persistent |

I'm gonna switch projects to a roguelike, except I'm gonna use the BYOND engine. It's not too bad of an engine, and If you are interested check out http://www.byond.com . I'm outie for now but I will start a thread soon to keep you updated, and even a website later on. You are not a hero unless you die. |
