Get to "extremely close", with non-extreme alignment (you can't be C-, N= or L+ or you'll get crowned instead) when you're at level 8 and no artifacts have been generated. Or you can be at level 8 plus 3 times the number of artifacts that have been generated. Anyway, pray and your god gives you a random artifact. You can still change alignment, and you won't get a permanent blessing. Die Gedanken sind Frei |

The artefact is truly random. I once got the Staff of Archmagi for my... lvl 11 Dwarven Barbarian :D, but also Wyrmlance for one my only winner (I used it to the end). |
