Nothing...they are just colored.

Sometimes, a color of the weapon on the ground will make the weapon be good when you pick it up...but if you're wielding it and it just says an XXX battle axe or something, its just normal

Actually it's not a normal weapon. Coloured weapons give resistances. Once I died while wielding white hand axe, and the list said I was cold resistant(gained through an item). This is my opinion, haven't tested it further. Any other ideas?

Someone shoot me for being stupid. I've been playing 1.0.0 for months now and never figured that out.

I'll let the experts answer first next time.

I think yellow may be shock resistant, but I'm only guessing

I don't know if this has been mentioned but weapons of the void seem to be dark drey. So if you find (say) a broadsword that is shown dark grey it should be broadsword of the void.

What good is a weapon of the void? A couple days ago, I ran through the graveyard below the Dwarven Halls and got a Holy Broadsword of the Void. (Wish I hadn't died, but hey...) I know what holy does, but not void.

IIRC -something- of the void makes some monsters afraid.

Yellow seem to have some electricity damage to them. I had a yellow hand axe and messages would append when I attacked that said something about crackling lightening.

There's a bug in that somewhere - it's not really lightning damage. I killed Srrarrasarrex with a murderous yellow eternium twohanded sword of penbetration - my first ever ULE. The RNG was being REALLY helpful

It's just aditional 2d6 lighting damage. It doesn't change the entire damage to lighting.

Where the hell did you get a sword like that? Besides, colored items grant resistances(prefixes like green, red, and so on). A weapon that has extra lightning damage is named sword of lightning or something like that and a sword that does fire damage is named flaming sword etc.
If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away.

Im-friggin'-possible.

One more possibility for colored weapons:

Mimic. :)

Low-level, weak, or non-paraylysis resistant characters of mine always shoot Frost Bolt or a missile at possibile mimics before moving next to them.

It's possible, coloured dosent count as a prefix (you can, IIRC, wish for coloured items, though not prefixed and suffixed ones.)

Colored gauntlets pre-date color prefixes for weapons. Black, red, white, or blue gauntlets can be either dragon-somethingorother gauntlets of that color (giving resistance to acid, fire, cold, and shock, respectively) or they can be just normal colored leather. You have to identify them (scroll, spell, or Dwarven Elder) for this to show up.

I agree, different kind of girdles, gauntlets, boots etc have been around for ages. Pre/Suffixes were introduced in V1.0.0 IIRC. Body Armor and weapons are only things that can have pre/suffixes, maximum one of each *fix. Totally different thing that a girdle of strength or white gauntles (which can be either a white leather or white dragon-hide).

For *complete* info about items, check the adom guidebook, as posted earlier.

2d4+6 means that it rolls a die with 4 sides twice, so 2-8 damage (+6 added damage)

What is so good about a mindcrafter, and how do i survive in the start of the game? The only way i've ever gotten past level 10 is being a troll, but i'd like a human mindcrafter. How do i survive with him?
