I've found a "spider shell armor of speed". "speed" suffix gives +5 speed, but what does "spider" prefix do? I don't have a scroll of greater identify so I can't check it. I believe it isn't mentioned in Andy Williams' Guide.

spider shell armor is a normal item ("spider" isn't prefix)

Yepp, it's kinda the dark elven answer to Elven chain mail. I think dark elf paladins usualy start with one for example...

Well, maybe, but I believe that's kinda poor answer :). Elven chain mails are rare and rather useful at the beginning, while this spidery thing is a bit crappy. Only speed suffix made it useful, without it I think I would throw it away.

Well at least they are fairly light-weight (if memory serve), and stats depend on the mood of the RNG I suppose (though the elven mails are generaly better naturaly)
