I use that too - mainly to get mp3's. My damn network is too slow to download anything larger.

What spy-ware? How does it work?

one hacker just discovered it... it is program inside kazaa, and it collects all sorts of information about you, and sends it to the develepor company of kazaa... and, of course, without you permission (or even knowledge about it)...
about network: the downloading speed depends how many users share this very file... so if only one usee is sharing the file, the sped is about 0.5 - 2 kB/s, even if you have ADSL (we have it in school :)

:-) they can get a lot of helpful info about me. If I have to write sth about myself on the net, I usually write some weird info about myself.

It's not so much the info you have stored on your computer they are interested in. It's more your surfing habbits and such they map. That way they can figure out what interest you and then sell that information to advertisers and such...

Well such trojans can in theory steal everyting from your computer including passwords and credit card into (if you use them on the net).

More often than not that won't happen though, most spyware is content with "only" tracking your every move online (wich is bad enough).

Kazaalite anyone? No spyware... www.kazaalite.com Though the site is down, you can find the program elsewhere... Kazaalite is a hacked version of Kazaa, where the spyware software has been disabled. It still registeres as spyware if you scan your comp with AdAware, but it doesn't do anything and if you wish to keep using Kazaalite you'd better let the hacked spyware program remain on your comp...

Sadly, my computer is far *TOO* slow, and has *a quite small* hard drive, and the school's internet rarely work, and EVERYHTHING is blocked.
Now I have that monkey off my back...
