It's random man! Try the Puppy cave, the Druid/Village Dungeon, maybe the SMC/UD if you are low level (it get dangerous the walki on the first level [SMC] if you are above lvl 5). In the infinite dungeon no altars are generated, so don't look there. White altars are for your lawfull god, grey for neutrals, black for chaotics. A pessimist sees a dark tunnel. An optimist sees a light at the end of that tunnel. A realist sees a train. And the train driver sees three idiots on the tracks. |

You'll get one guaranteed altar in dwarf town this will fit your alignment ones generated (if your alignment is not chaotic) differently yours |

Altars are generated randomly so there is no telling where you can find one... There is always an altar of your alignment in Dwarftown though (unless you are chaotic), and you can always convert altars into one of the propper alignment, though that requires that you already have an abowe average relation to your good wich you can't have unless you have found a propper altar in the first place...
