How do you make items 'rustproof'? I've seen many of them in weaponsmiths' flags in HoF.

Jek's right. By the way, there's a guaranteed one (unfortunately always cursed) from the carpenter quest. Yriggs drops it when he's killed or healed by Jharod.

It is cursed when he is healed. Thanks for your help, now I was able to make an awesome rustproof sword of sharpness (+10, 4d8+10) or sth like this :-).

My pride was a rustproof orcish dagger (bloody dagger) +5 2d3+6 (combined with find weaknes it was almost like it had slaying of everything) but that char died of an Emperor Lich (jumped out of a grave - i was lvl 14 :( )
And a rustproof orcish spear of devastation +1 5d8+8 - the same char.

My char now has sth around 90/40 DV/PV, sword of sharpness (I made a mistake, it's only +9 to hit :) ), Death's Final Touch, (+5, 1d4+3) phase dagger, RoImmunity and Protector. Not mentioning the hammer of the gods I never used and the usual guaranteed crap. Lvl19 gray elven weaponsmith. If this char won't win, I'm the worst ADoM player out there. And I'll kick my own ass sideways :P.

I won! Hurray! I don't have to kick my own ass sideways :P.

I still can't believe it, but I've made it. Soon I'll send this char to HoF. Celebrimbor is his name.

When you make some item rustproof, does it also prevent it from corroding? So that you can whack e.g. gray oozes or ochre jellies as much as you want?

Played over 2 years now and never been even close to winning. My best char (lvl24 human paladin) got water and fire orbs.

No. rustproof items can still corrode. Artifacts and stone weapons never corrode, and I think crystal and eternium don't either. Mithril and adamantium corrode less easily than iron. You can also kill the jellies with magic or missiles.

If you don't mind my asking, Iridia, what's the furthest you've got, and what killed you? You seem to have been close enough to winning to encounter greater undead vaults - at least you gave me some very helpful advice on dealing with them.

2>Archangel: Also there is another the way to deal with those jellies..
- get some acid resistans/immunity.
- do not forget to remove gauntlets/shoes (if you do not want them damaged).
- beat jellies down bare-handed or kick them to death like real punk %)

LOL Monks and beastfighters are THE best jelly fighters. What do they lose? thier clothes? Can't they go berserker and really splatter those jellies.

Archangel: keep going, you are VERY close to winning. For a long time all my chars got only two orbs, but then my two chars captured all 5 orbs. The first one (Musician, the drakeling bard - available on HoF) died on D:50, and the second one closed the gate. Just don't get yourself killed by Nuurag :).

Thanks Jek! Never thought of that. My own stupidity always suprises me:)

I usually kill jellies with missiles. It's generally good to have atleast few rocks with you for oozes or karmic lizards.

Guinea: I'll keep trying, believe me! This game will surrender to me some day!!!

BTW, what do I need to beat up Nuurag? Death ray resistance and what else? And what about other orb guardians?

I hereby announce that I am more than willing to kill anyone who dares to cross my way

Archangel: to beat up Nuurag you need conf. resistance and a source of light (not necessary but very useful), and something to kill him. And that's not easy. He's a stat-drainer, he heals himself, he was able to take half of my HP in one round. I recommend slaying ammo, although phase daggers can be useful too.

I didn't metion the 2 other orb guardians, because they didn't appear as a serious threat to me. Just whack those bastards to death and take orbs. And corpses :P
