What music do you guys listen to while playing adom? I personally enjoy Mozart's Requiem in D minor (k.626) and various pieces like:

Any of the Planets by Holst
Finlandia by Sibelius
Dies Irae by Verdi(from his Requiem)
March of the Trolls by Grieg
Most of Beethoven's symphonies
Any of Jeremy Soule's game music
"The Battle" from Gladiator
Klendathu Drop from Starship Troopers
Stargate Main theme
Independence Day theme
Liberi Fatali by Nobuo Uematsu

That's about all I can think of now...

You feel a surge of power. Suddenly your extraordinary carrying capacity fails you. You are crushed by the tons of luggage you are carrying. You die...

Believe it or not, classical... as well as some contemporary Christian music, which I'm just getting into (I didn't know so much of it even exitsted... or how much of it sounds annoyingly like nsync...) The Ride of the Valkyrie... oh, yeah. Definitely. Wagner... or most Russian composers... very appropriate.

Unfortunately I often have to listen through headphones because my Britney-Spears-addict roommate would probably glare at me, then whack me with the wrong end of an Eternium Two-Handed Sword, for ruining her enjoyment of yet another simpering love song. :D

Ir's good to see that us metalheads have a niche in the ADOM forums. Rhapsody does sound like it would be good with ADOM. Who's on the LoTR soundtrack?

LotR Soundtrack: music by Howard Shore (an Academy Award for that) and some vocals by Enya.

I'm not quite sure what genre is Delerium. Ambient, I think.

I prefeer silence...

I'm a bit odd that way, I'm the only person I know off (around here anyway) who have never owned a casette player or CD player all my life (well unless you count my CD-rom and the car radio (that ones broken now though)).

I've never had a favourite band or music style either...

Don't get me wrong I don't mind music, I've just never felt the need to aquire any. I own exactly 1 audio CD, and that one I got for free at school (some "music-against-drugs" type thing, and as they where tossing free CD's around in the end one landed right in my lap, so I kept it like the pack rat I am (you should see my room ancient Cover disks (both 370Kb (Amiga) and 1.44 Mb ones) and CD's all over the place, I never throw anything away).

I like all sorts of music though (except realy heavy rock (where they seem to simply make as much noice as possible, scream a lot and generaly look pissed off), but I operate on a song by song (or instrumental) basis and don't have any favourite arists/bands/styles.

Don't feel alone, Jan. There are plenty of people out there who either don't like music or have no preferences. Personally, I was raised by a mother who believed anything but hymns was "of the devil" (she's mellowed out a bit since) and I'm just now beginning to discover what I like or don't like... for a long time, I didn't play any music at all.

I live with a roommate who plays music 24/7, can't sleep without it, can't do schoolwork without it... I swear if I turned the music off she'd forget to breathe.... Well, okay, maybe it isn't that extreme. :)

Be glad you're not like her...

I hardly ever listened to music, but it changed, when I gained web access few years ago. Napster, AG, Kazaa, and I have a lot of mp3 music. I've always thought that buying music is a waste of money.

And yes, silence rulez! But Delerium - Silence :-)(-:

I often listen to books on tape; but I usually pause them if there are any tricky bits coming up. There's really nothing as frustrating as getting killed in your own personal ADOM battle scene because the heroes were close to getting killed in a book-on-tape's battle scene. I once died to ghul paralysis (with a wizard who had lots of bolt spells) while listening to a chapter on Helm's Deep...

Heavy Metal!

Judas Priest is really cool, but just don't play Painkiller while playing ADOM. I know thast if i did i would just be rocking and playing fast(er than a bullet) and getting killed pretty quick :P
And sometimes i just listen to some Alice Cooper.

And of course many more, but not all have a bitof a connection to ADOM.

I'll admit that I'm quite the audio geek. I run sound for my school and church. I have all my nice stuf ('71 panasonic 5 LP changing turn table, 300 CD disc changer etc.) in my room and not at the computer so I just turn on win amp and play a random shufle from the 3000+ songs that I have (mostly ripped from CD at high quality) That means that one second I could be playing slipknot or something like project86 or the first Dead-poetic CD and then the next song is something country like allan jackson and the next song is enya then harlem jazz like duke elington or louis armstrong and then van hallen. my music realy covers the whole spectrum. I like indie rock best though. I've found that once a band like metalica gets big they loose there quality. btw, the LotR sound track is spectacular for ADOM. espesialy the two Towers track 6 which I beleive is the rohan theme. I love LotR. and directed at those other Tolkienophiles, "Elen sila lumenn' omentielvo" (quenya i.e. elven)
