I think more artifacts are needed. But ones that are useful to anyone despite what weapon or whatever they specialise in. Like food for example?

Quickling fruit
When consumed gives +20 Speed and +2 Dexterity.
Found in the quickling tree.

Ancient brew
If consumed gives the equivelent of two uncursed PoGA 2 Learning and gives 4 random spells.
Gained from the old crone.

Golden Apple
Removes 40% of your curruption. Removes all unnatural aging.
Gained from the druid by doing some risky quest.

Tell me more ideas!

How about...
Phoenix Wand
Infinite charges
When zapped, fires a random spell

If you chat with some random wizard-type creature
(Dark sage etc.) that is non-hostile, you would get pretty dangerous quest and Phoenix Wand as reward. Could be interesting to zap it towards Andor Drakon and cast Bless or Cure Critical Wounds on him :)

ring of the master baiter
*powers when worn - attracts female NPC's by spending 5d20 turns in a very provocative manner.

Kayaman: Oh stop it ! Even avoiding harming cats is troublesome enough. If one had to also had to avoid harming dogs (jackals ? Wolves ?) it would be quite ridiculous. What next ?

The game is already imbalanced because of the superpowerful artifacts (Vanguisher for example). I think that some artifacts should go be erased from the game.

Yes Runemaster, you apolagised for that already.
But anyway, I agree with you to a certain extent, it does unbalance the game and bring too much of the element of luck (will I get the Vanquisher this game or not??), but to erase all of them would make the game less interesting!

how about this one (serious suggestion):

Spear of the King's Hunt [+4,+0] (3d8+10) {+3 DEX} {+2 ST} (+15 speed)
*spear (duh)
*25% chance of scoreing instakills on all animals
*kills always leave blessed corpses

or this one (not serious suggestion, but something i'd love to have none-the-less):

Shard of the Creator's Beltknife [+20,+5] (12d12+50) {+20 all attributes} (+200 speed)
*twohanded sword
*90% chance of scoreing instakills on any creature
*grants all good intrins.(permanantly) xcept invis
*draws char's allignment towards N= (IMO the Creator isn't L+ is he?)
*forgives all cat kills perm.
*prevents char from developing any neg. intrinsics (incl. confusion, stun, blind, etc.)
*prevents satiation loss
*constantly increases piety level (basicly like sacing 100 gold to your god per turn)

now wouldn't that be one mighty sword? just imagine what the Creator's Broadsword would be like...

Some items could give you basic information about some spells. for example these:

Cap of apperentice wizard [+0, +1] {+5Ma}

*Learn to use all bolts (except death ray)
*25% chance to dodge spells

Cap of master wizard [+2, +2] {+10Ma}

*Learn all "ball" spells
*35% chance to dodge spells
Money talks - All mine ever says is goodbye

that'd be kinda hard to work... how abt this: those are the same, but the App. Wiz cap gives +300 to all bolts, but they don't regen (unless you dip the cap in a PoRM or some such); same w/ Cap of the Master Wiz. only you get 400 castings.

Great, all I'd have to do is find the cap, put it on and learn all the spells then put my other better helmet on. Free spells are always a good thing!

Wand of shop creation (10 charges)
* Destroys anything that is in it's way of construction
* If it's blessed in creates a casino shop
* If it's uncursed it creates a normal shop
* If it's cursed then you create a shop that thinks you've just robbed it.

Wouldn't it be funny if you destroyed the chaos gate or Andor Drakon just by creating a food shop it's place. =)

I like the first three artifacts Sengoku mentioned - but I'd change the Golden apple to the SILVER APPLE.

Hmmm, so in short what these "Silver" apples do? I gathered that they grant sleep resistance - then it makes you die???

Some weapon artifact that half of its damage would by-pass armor and another half would work normally. Would be nice, for killing armored mice:)

ADOM has enough artifacts as it is.Has anyone here even seen all the artifacts.
The dwarven kindrel would be a nice addition though.
The lamp's not too bad either but it would be too powerful unless its really difficult to get

Can anyone tell me what happened to silver key?
Have found that one in a long time.

Artificer's Hammer (3d6+3 damage)
allows you to improve items by adding a random pre-/suffix to the item. given by doing some very hard quest for the weaponsmith in dwarftown.
