Hey meh, i found artifacts in the ancient dwarf graveyard,anybody has also found artifacts in the graveyards? I think this is how it works if u want to find all those artifacts. -dig all graveyards in the dwarven site, in the CoC [of course, don't get crowning first](got b4 hammer of gods and ironfist)(Needless to say, beware of lich family]-invisibilty helps -go to Blup's mom home to look at the items lying in her treasury [of course, needless to say,bring either crystals, scrolls of darkness or have the spell](got b4 obisidian quarrel) -go to the great rift to search for artifacts.(this i always go, got b4 ring of Imm and rune-covered whirlwind) -go to ring of HKs (look for surge of power[though rare], got b4 silver bracers of war) -go to gremlin cave or infinite dungeon,use pickpocket(got 2 persons in the HOF got Rune-Co Whirlwind in this way) -go to infinite dungeon after closing the gate [i always go there after winning to train my twin daggers,got b4 sapphire amulet from a red dragon] -go to the casino shop [which everyone always do][50% 1 or mayb 3 artifacts could be found] -go bug temple [got one person i read somewhere got b4 emerald dagger] -yes,forgot one more place-the dark forge [25%, in the weapon area a Rune-Cov "WyrmLance" maybe present-weighs 50s]got b4 twice -If possible, get ax of mintoaur emp Any other places, i must try to recall. Also, i now remember. -Fight all vaults [including greater/lesser undead vault] -get the phial from gremlin cave -get the amulet and shield of raw steel from the dwarven artificer in the dark forge [note, this is hard, i have done the first quest b4 (got the shield)but alignment from L dropped to N- [serious huh, luckily i haven't get crowned yet]#note-the shield may provide good protection and some other reisstance but then it kinda of "sulks"[contain the essence of raw chaos] -killed the assassin prince {get Sting)[easily, know how i do this? Well, using a wand of poison on him (make him suffer for wat he attacks #use poison#,let him have a taste of it :)] -do the ancient karmics wrym quest [get Needle] -maybe u could also "try" to get the Trident of Red Rooster. -get the spectre of chaos, amulet and crown [if striving for a ultra ending] -go to tomb of HKs, whack the skeletal king, get the ring -do the black druid quest [get black torc] -go dark forge get the crown of Sci -get all the chaos orbs -kill the mummy lord get the ankh and his wrappings Still got?/got to crack my brains. Barbarians have a good chance of getting Vanquisher.The ankh dosent help much.The crowning gifts for each class are already determined. eg:  often crowned with staff of archmagi.The only race dependent crowning gifts are Suns messenger and hammerhead.Otherwise its all class dependent THE MESSIAH,I'm here now,Worship me. |

So crowning gifts are predefined at character creation ? Too bad, since my latest wiz got some useless-piece-of-crap staff as a crowning gift *SIGH*. Didn't even bother identifying it. Fortunately Waldenbrook paid handsomely for it. BTW does anyone know if the crowning immunity is also predefined (considering the char doesn't have that immunity when crowned). The very same char got (IIRC) cold immunity. IMO that's the most useless immunity in the game. |

TB removed the artifact key (silver key) as of g15 or g16pr2.Wasnt of great use. IIRC monks and healers can get the shirt of the saints and mabye priests too.I'm not sure bout the priest THE MESSIAH,I'm here now,Worship me. |

played a human paladin, precrowning-robes of resistance, crowning preserver and postcr. natures friend. F*&k, I have never seen THE vanquisher :( Doesn't feel like paladins gifts anyway... |

Messiah: I know crowning gifts are determined by character class from 6 possible choices but is the crowning gift preselected from those six at character generation i.e. if I saved right before getting crowned and tried getting crowned several times would I always get same gift ? Or is it random ? Too bad wizards have only 3 useful crowning gifts, those staffs are completely useless IMO. |

brothafrost: pre/post crowning gifts are random.Why I've had barbarians pre crowned with staff of the archmagi. J:No you wont always get the same gift.And no its not completley random either. I'm not sure what conditions are to be satisfied. You cant get all the 6 gifts with any char.But you might get any one of the rest.I'm not sure what really influences this.Luck counts i guess and the race too.Must be determined at creation.I'll have to check on that. silvery two-handed sword "Vanquisher" (+3, 6d5+3) [-3, +0] It is a demon slayer. It is a dragon slayer. It is an undead slayer. It is an unlife slayer. It is a humanoid slayer. It is a giant slayer. It is a jelly slayer. I spent a very long time getting vanquisher, and... it's very dissapointing. Yes, it slays almost everything, but since it's a two handed weapon there's no room for a shield, which means you get hit frequently. It also further reduces your DV by 3. I once took vanquisher to the fire temple thinking that it'd slay everything and i'd clear that place a sinch. I took so much damage so fast i had to flee. I then came back with rolfs companion and an eternium shield and cleared it easily. Also undead a likely to hit you with such a low DV, things like ghosts, which is not very nice for the races generally associated with barbarians and fighters. Necromancers might be a different story though. However, he who has high two-weapon-combat skills might tell a different story. Training up in the gremlin cave could be handy. I know that gray elven necromancers *always* get the vanquisher. Heh, whole lotta good a melee weapon does for a gray elf though. Perhaps scumming for a bunch of extra healing potions, then blessing (is that what makes them give you extra hp when you are at full health?) will nullify the low hp of a gray elf. I think that there are 3 perameters for crowning gifts, race, class, alignment. Although alignment seems the most iffy. Oh the joy that has been brought to us by the mystical drink known simply as "Kool-Aid." |

Regarding crowning immunity: It is not predefined what immunity you'll get at crowning. You cannot receive an immunity you already have (obviously), immunites granted via worn items included. So if you want to be sure not to get cold immunity for crowning, wear the AMW or some other cold immunity granting item. This way, you can "choose" immunity if you have an item for each immunity. :) Btw, crowning gift is chosen from a predefined list at creation of the character, and not during the crowning. Can anybody guarantee Rolf companion and savior from the ancient dwarf and the dwarven mystic? Don't kill any felines, and you can get the ring of the Master Cat. Returning Blup will get you the rune covered trident. Killing the Minotaur Emporor will get you his Axe. Also, the SI is guaranteed in the CoC. I think the black Scythe is as well. |

I managed to get a "Gauntlets of Smiting (0) (+0, +0)" Greater Identify told me they do 1d3 damage when used as a missile weapon and thats it. Do they do anything else, hidden from Blessed Scrolls of Greater Identify? |

grey elven necromancers get "Kinslayer"....which slays humanoids. maybe vanquisher was an earlier version, kinslayer might as well be called toiletslayer, that's the only place it's going. |

Ah, it was an older version indeed. G15 if my memory serves me correctly. Sorry if that got anyone confused. Btw I really think it was the Vanquisher having just looked over the uniques again. If I am wrong, so be it. Also, gloves of smiting add one point of damage to attack if I remember correctly. Oh the joy that has been brought to us by the mystical drink known simply as "Kool-Aid." |

Gloves of smiting's damaga/hit bonuses are random... you can get even minuses from them... I rarely even try any gloves or take them with me 'cause they're usually useless. And I think that alchemist gloves does something to yer alchemy skill, logical, isn't it? And about artifacts: Do you know that does "the iron crown of havlor" have any kind of specifications or anything else restrictions for getting it? Aargh, god damn my grammar sucks =) I want that crown 'cause it simply rules but I haven't got it but once... Gnomish Elementalist (who died just 'cause of my own stupidity.
