Dragons do make sense. In every book I've read that includes dragons, they hoard gold and valuable equipment. So, it makes sense that they drop large amounts. I take it none of you have ever read, "The Hobbit" "You try to give Fang, the large dog the bone. Fang, the large dog says,"Do you know who I am, mortal?!?!" My smartest dog ever:D |

There is an elitist sentence I could throw in now: Spoiler but I'm trying not to be GameFAQs now and will elaboratel as nicely as I can.(I take it you haven't ever read this topic) In this topic, the last thing we were talking about, right now, was the dragon hoard bug. Dragons drop 1000 G (a normal dragon I mean). Now, if you drop this 1000 G, let a dragon pick it up and kill it, then you will get back the double. This is alright, but what if you drop 100000 G? You will get 200000! This is a very noobish exploit I think. (\_/) (o.0) (> <) ( / \ ) Don't click this http://www.mindistortion.net/iwantyoursoul/?i_am=Darkcutter |

i diin't found nowhere in "Hobbit" abou dragons producing extra gold. collecting and keeping eye on it like water dragon in his lair yes. but not making extra. leprechauns could. dragons -- i never heard. speaking about exploits: all of us use some. i remember some discusion in google groups enede at point you should do only that acharacter knows. which means for example not taking death resistance in mana temple, because char doesn't knows it is needed. in general everyone has it 's own line there exploit is ok and then not. claw bug farming is considered noobish and anormal, while waiting for blink dogs to summon help necessary evil. in short for you bunny: you can't define other people definition of fun. I cannot to most of the part, and I let everyone use what they want. However, playing with exploits and winning with them just won't have that great feeling etc. Your choice though. (\_/) (o.0) (> <) ( / \ ) Don't click this http://www.mindistortion.net/iwantyoursoul/?i_am=Darkcutter |

The idea of dragons having an affinity with gold goes back very far - Smaug's hoarde in The Hobbit is just an extension of real myths. The fact that dragons have this ability to double gold in the game could possibly make sense as a feature rather than a bug, but one that has been poorly thought out (since it's easy to get ridiculous amounts of gold). What I find interesting about this bug is that it was only recently discovered - within the last year or so. So whilst you may call it "noobish" to me it's still a fairly novel trick that I've never realised in all my years of play. I sometimes use it to get small amounts of gold for shopping, but I've never scummed it for precrowns or stat-training. Another interesting thing about this bug is that you can use it to get negative gold - the integer wraps round much like the piety overflow bug (I think it happens at somewhere around 4 billion gold - wraps round to -4 billion). Of course negative gold is useless, and can crash the game, but is funny nonetheless :) Waldenbrook, the dwarven shopkeeper, mumbles: "I'd offer 9 gold pieces for yer dwarven child corpse." |

Well, in theory, you could use negative gold to increase your carrying capa- scratch that, to REDUCE the weight of stuff you're carrying. You drop the golden ball. You kick the golden ball. It slides to the west. Suddenly Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, appears! "That's not how you play Quidditch! are you even listening?" Which direction? I've never gotten the opportunity to use such "Features" in a real, I'm gonna try to beat the game file. I just try stuff like this"or invincible berserker' just for a lil fun. I assure you that when I do beat the game, no noobish things will be done that I'm aware of. The negative gold thing is interesting too.Though I think the whole carrying capacity with negative gold though would crash the game.Because then it might say you're carrying negative stones. It's most likely going to crash, yeah ;) Especially since the game would have to find an encumbrance status below normal. Hmm... "Lifted", starting at -1 stones weight? "Floating", starting at -(the weight of the PC)? Gold can already be used to increase your carrying capacity to infinity using blessed girdles of greed and the porter talents... I wouldn't even consider that an exploit since it is enormously dangerous to walk around with only a girdle of greed between you and being crushed by tons of luggage. You drop the golden ball. You kick the golden ball. It slides to the west. Suddenly Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, appears! "That's not how you play Quidditch! are you even listening?" Which direction? Well, for me, I rarely use girdles of greed or carrying. What if a hag curses it? YASD. And then there are guaranteed monsters which also curse equips. Acid traps, blue dragons, whatever... More often I use Strength of Atlas or Lordly Might. It can always be recharged. And if I see that my strength is waning and I'm out of casts, I'll just drop all the stuff ASAP and wait till it wears off, then I pick up the stuff I can. Quite foolproof. Don't say you will skip it accidentally, either - in later versions a (more) message alerts you now so you are forced to pay attention. Heh. That's the reason I want to introduce an ability of monsters to break spells that are cast on the PC at the moment... So people stop using Strength of Atlas as a foolproof method of making carrying capacity skyrocket ;) Sadly, the times of ADOM updates are gone. You drop the golden ball. You kick the golden ball. A word of warning - - - I had spent a whole night with a rock on my space key - getting gold at the casino. I was fabulously wealthy - I mean FABULOUSLY WEALTHY $$$$ OOOHhh YEAH! I read about the dragon doubling, which I had never heard of or seen in almost 10 years of playing, and I tried it. I now am the disappointed owner of a huge pile of negative gold. It's worth nothing, and I can't pick it up. GAAAAAHHHHH!!!!! lesson learned. Try the TiLiCat! It's experience! Tiger, stuffed with deboned Lion, stuffed with deboned Wildcat, and slow roasted with a mix of herbs. (served raw for Trolls) |

Well, yeah, I did warn ya earlier :P Stop the pile after you get to a coupld of billion, then store it somewhere safe and go start a new pile. Waldenbrook, the dwarven shopkeeper, mumbles: "I'd offer 9 gold pieces for yer dwarven child corpse." |

Hm... What if the char had something like 1.5 billion gold pieces and dropped 1 billion gold to a baby dragon. When the BD was killed there should be some 2 billion GP to pick up. If the char picked that up then should the char then have a negative amount of gold ? Sytytä toiselle tuli ja hän pysyy lämpimänä jonkin aikaa.
