Perhaps I find some time to test/port my roller script to windows next week. There seems to be stand alone bash for windows enviroment at http://win-bash.sourceforge.net/ . With it could be possible to get the script working. If not, would DOS version compatible roller script suffice to you Soirana? UPDATE: Bad news for all you MS Windows users. I tried to get my ADOM Roll script to work in Windows/Cygwin enviroment but ran into a wall. The script works otherwise perfectly fine, but ADOM.EXE does not read keypresses from the stdin :( However. If somebody knows a way to send keypresses to DOS-adom and informs me it still can be done. as i am exclusively using DOs version this will be sort of perfect. i only need to figure that to do with that piece of code. some sort of extra program? edit: found that. p.s.it should be possible to check starting gear? specifically two fireresist rings for brimstone challenge. p.p.s. it totally refuses to work on my windows 2K best i got it started ADOM and hung up in waiting. must be my inferior computer knowledge:( maybe i should make some offerings to PC or Microsoft in best Adom traditions(live sacs it is):) A root is a flower that disdains fame. My script can be downloaded from the following URL: http://www.students.tut.fi/~raskuj/ARoll.zip One fellow even offered to help me with improving the talent selection of the script. :) So there is a hope version 1.1. will be out sometime soon. I try to maintain the script and perhaps even make a small web page for it in the near future. The priorities are: 1) To check if the script works in windows/cygwin/winbash enviroment. EDIT: IT DOES NOT 2) To implement better talent selection by parsing the piped input of the ADOM executable. 3) To allow selection of star signs. 4) Make possible to save and load character rolling settings. This way you can always start generating your favourite character with ease. If you can help me with any of these or have more suggestions, comments or feature requests contact me trough my personal email (yorak@flashmail.com / jussi dot rasku atchar gmail dot com). Have fun! Soirana, I designed it on 2k. ;) You want to edit it, to make sure it's pointing to your version of Adom, both with the EXE, and the working directory (that next directory, next to the exe) Also, I think I had mine pointing to a .bat file, point yours to your EXE |

Hi all, One forum user kindly emailed me that the old roller URL no longer works and kindly linked me this old thread. Therefore, sorry for resurrecting the long dead, but I decided to make a post to make an update announcement: The latest version (for prior-"resurrection" ADOM 1.1.1) can be found here: http://users.jyu.fi/~juherask/piki/Projects/AdomCharacterRoller.html Also Windows is supported with some caveats (see README). If someone who knows his way around Bash scripting is willing to update the script for the resurrection versions, please do. Use / modify / redistribute as you wish but remember to attribute me. Thanks. [Edited 1 time, last edit on 8/6/2014 at 12:34 (GMT -5) by yorak] |
