Specifically, I mean I have an oooold computer : ) I do not plan to upgrade, because the only things that I do with a computer are playing ADOM and listening to books. I care little for 3D games, or playing movies on a PC. It's been a long time since I fiddled with Sage, but if memory serves isn't it actually the linux version of adom? I think it runs in something like an emulator. I can't remember, because it was so long ago, but I remember it just worked more slowly on my PC. Put me in the 'fool filter', where I belong! |

I was still using a 486 until about 2001, and my main PC now is the 486's replacement - a 999 mhz pentium 3 laptop that weighs about 600 lbs. It's a Laptop of Weight. But it sounds like your system is even worse than that. The only reason I'm thinking about upgrading is because I want to play around with 3D imaging. Plus I don't think an old system will be able to run JADE. :-/ |

Worst player ever, do you have the porter/master packager/beast of burden talents? I though that the increase is 1:1 normally, but those talents increase your carrying capacity so you get extra and thus the girdle of greed can be abused... Though there is a risk: any fire/acid attack from that point on can one-hit-kill you. If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away. It wasn't to my knowledge until I started reading through these forums about six months ago, and I've played ADOM off and on for almost a decade now. I don't think you have to have special talents for it to work, but do be extra careful about relying on that girdle for carrying cappacity. > Damn, gut... I thought I was retro. That's just how wierd I am : ) I might get a new PC when JADE comes out, but I doubt it. I'm not easily excited in my old age : ) I will likely wait for most of the bugs to get ironed out, before I bother. Put me in the 'fool filter', where I belong! |

Yes, I've got that whole talent path. I'm thinking that HAS to be it. Now that I think of it, I was lucky I didn't crush myself when I dropped the gold since I was carrying all of my crap from the casino with no regard as to burden levels without the gold. I hadn't even thought about fire/acid. Ah I see...I used to run on a 486 way back when, but right now I've got a pretty decent computer, 1.6 Ghz, 2 gigs of RAM, basically a standard middle-of-the-line computer. And yes, ADOM Sage runs through Linux. Going for 2nd win |
