Ye holy rules of ye contest of doom: 1. You can start immediately, but if you want to do a challenge (see below) I advise you wait until I've replied in case you disagree with the multiplier I set. 2. a) Savescumming or use of 3rd-party programs (like ADOMF or what have you) are obviously not permitted. The exception allowed is the patch that fixes the artifact list, found here: http://www.stud.ntnu.no/~houeland/adom/patches/windows-patcher-1.2.exe b) Backing up your save games is permitted (and encouraged) however, but you may restore them only if you lose your game to a crash or power cut etc. 3. If your character dies after the contest starts, you may begin again as many times as you like, provided that your character level at death was no higher than 6 (4 for trolls). If your character dies and your level was 12 or less (8 for trolls) you may begin again ONCE. Once you reach level 13 (9 for trolls) death is final. 4. The winner of the contest will be determined by final score. However, that score will be modified: a) Normal victories and deaths are unchanged ChAoS gOd victories get 1.5x score Avatar of Order/Balance victories get 2x score Ultimate ChAoS gOd victories get 3x score b) Optionally you may think of an appropriate challenge game. Post what it is here and I'll give you a modifier for it between 1.1x and 2x. For example, a weaponsmith who never uses smithing might get 1.2x (as they're still a powerful class without it) while a mindcrafter who never uses mindcraft, or a character who never makes a melee attack would get 2x. I'm in...and I'll see your illiteracy challenge AND I will abolish the use of magic: wands, books and scrolls(obviously), and spells gained through potions...I am not giving up other potions or herbs though, that would be dumb ;). Also, I will only use thrown spears as my missile weapon, and subsist only from rotting kobold corpses!!!!!JK about the kobolds. I'm going for an Orc Barbarian named Ruzzlesput. Not bad .. giving up books and scrolls is obviously moot, spells gained through potions is negligible. Wands is fairly major - I'm assuming you realise that means fighting the Eternal Guardian. Well I could get the RoTHK...I would save the carpenter, get the skill (albeit at 2/100), throw the manual away, and spend an exorbitant amount of time trying to build a bridge. In theory it could work. |

Alex, staying illiterate whole game? I'd give better score than 1.4x I think I'm in, after I manage to finish my current archer. I plan to be gray elven necromancer who never uses necromancy. Ruzzlesput is dead...lev 10...score is shamefully low. he was dong awsome...7lb,3 lesser vaults, lots of high quality weapons adamantium axes, spears, RoL, etc, but he died on lev 6 of the UD. I am going to try again. woohoo! |

I'm doing OK. Very nearly got killed in an unwisely late attempt to find the down staircase of SMC, but just escaped. Got my fourth ever surge of power in the Big Room (they're always in weird places) guarded by a named dark elven archer: anticlimax of the century, it was the Black Tome of shittyness. Totally useless and messed up my precrownings. Will get crowned lawful as soon as I get the mummy wrapping (I'm going for normal ending) Champion of Order + Unicorn birthsign should be a real help against corruption, seeing as I can't read any SOCR. Oh, and I've found a mithril ring, which is nice. What do you wish for? wands of cat repellent_ |

My gray elven necromancer Lightbane started his adventures well. Going for Ultimate chaos god. Got precrowned with BoW :D and Raven starsign, so I already have R-C-trident. Waldenbrook had a AoLS in his store, so Kelly was saved easily. Btw, I found another in ToHK. Cleaned darkforge with lightning balls, totally 2 wishes from pools :). Too bad that 90 days has already passed, and I have one corruption (very light). Now going to get Orb of Water, and then to the library. Later info: Library completed, killed water dragon, visited M-maze and ToEF. Then to CoC. Casino contained some nice spellbooks (greater identify&death ray:) and The black tome (which isn't nice:(. Cat lord rewarded my efforts with RoTMC :). No greater vaults this time :(. Unfortunately I'm getting problems with corruptions. I fear I'll have to wish some SoCR instead of other things. Now about to enter blue dragon caves. Currently lvl 31. Then going to get TotRR and do crone quests (have all required things). Ruzzlesput is dead...again a low score of 35469...got overzealous with some bees and wasn't paying attention. Lev 9 precrowned once...I didnt know that you could get more than one item at precrowning: i got thunderstroke, +6+6 heavy Xbow, some eternium Quarrels and come regular quarrels. I know that they arn't artifacts but it is nice that the god gives you something to shoot the quarrel with. edited for some REALLY bad spelling errors :-) That was a fun competition. You always get an amulet of your gods alignment, and if you get one of those Artifact missiles you get the corresponding misile weapon and some extra ammo. Never been (Pre)crowned with Whirlwind, Far slayer, or Suns messenger, so im not sure if its the same with them |
