2. not quite sure about this, but don't you get more than five increases with Le: 22-24...? and i'm almost sure that while my skill increase rate was 9/level, my Le was below 40, and as i got it to 41 or so my skills started to improve at a rate of 10 increases/level. so the rules above are not 100% proper, or i'm not sane at all;)

1. What category(if any) do grues fall into? As in, dragons/demons/undead etc?

2. I've encountered a greater undead vault, with lich kings/emperors guarding Bracers of War :(
Plz help me on this, how do i clear it? I'm a lvl 33 human wiz.

2. I need some help on the earth temple. How do i get rid of all the annoying earth grues and elementals?

1. None.
2. Use destroy undead, if you don't have it, use your strongest spell (not ice)
2. Just hack at them. (I suppose it would be a good idea if you could score criticals with a pickaxe :-)) )

Sharad: Question 2.
You probably have fireball, which can work. Sadly this will destroy a lot of eq, but never mind that. BoW will not be (how do you know its Bow there eh)
Invisibility is a great help. Wear a shield and be a coward. Get a decent fireball-spell-effectivity. And above all, get good willpower. Your willpower should be 25-26-27 now, you probably have access to the water orb. Hopefully you have an amulet of perseverance and/or the sword of Nonnak. Rememeber the infamous film:

My usual strategy in the earth temple (unless playing a very buff char) is to lead out the elementals and grues a few at a time to another level, and kill them there, this takes som time irl but not too much in gametime

Have high Wi, in "coward", and get surrounded. Use Ice Ball. Best if with 3+ square radius.
I might be wrong, but it doesn't destroy books and scrolls very fast, and is very tolerable towards other stuff.

How do you NOT? First thing you do when you come to a greater vault is zap a wand of monster detection to see the type. If its a greater undead, you zap a wand of item detection to see if its worth the trouble. Artifacts are generated on the floor.

There is only one artifact bracer.

Nchurmadaz, the problem with using ice ball is the fact that greater undead are immune to ice.

The lesser undead that will actually be affected by the spell is not of any major concern anyway.

Wizards should have a pretty high Wi. 48+ Wi and Fireball/Imp Fireball actually makes wizards have the easiest time in a greater undead vault. If you don't have the Wi, go to the casino. Find the 24 $ machine, a heavy object on your spacebar, and make massive amounts of money. Pay it all to Garth for Wi. Wait. When you have 38 or more Wi, grab the Air Orb. If you dont like to use casino money, scum for PoGAs.

Make sure you have DRay resistance, and conf resistance is nice to have as well. Imp Fireball and Fireball your way through.. teleport out if youre surrounded and need mana. ALWAYS leave enough mana for an emergency tele.

1) Wands of door creation for containment. Make sure you're able to lock and unlock them at will.

2)Wait until level 36 or so. At this stage there is a guaranteed undead slayer.

3)Wear an invisibility cloak or use something that gives permanent invisibility. A potion won't cut it since it takes a long time to clear a greater undead vault. Liches will be able to see you but the vast majority of their summonings won't be able to.

I've managed to clear most of the undead vault now, as well as get the Earth orb. Thanx for the help!
Now, all that remains in the undead vault is the centre room, with the lich kings and such. My major problem is that the lich kings manage to drain my stats and keep confusing me. How do I counter that??

Confusion is best negated by Helm/Rings of mental stability, A ring of the clear mind, and a few artifacts that grant confusion resistance. Refer to the guidebook.

A high Willpower score also helps a lot to resist confusion. The outside of the vault is the cakewalk, its really the emperor liches and lich kings inside that cause the trouble. Stat drains is really unavoidable, just try to fight them from a distance. With a bit of range on your ball spell, it might be possible to kill them from afar.

As i said before, improved fireball is ideal for this type of situation.

Oh, and confusion resistance doesn't stack, in case you took my meaning above to wear as many of those things as possible. Just one will do.

about the undead vault: if you know the fireball, have big Wi and are able to detect monsters, check if the emperor lich/lich kings is standing next to a vault wall. if yes, stay still near the same wall and repeat fireballing until the major liches are dead. this can take time as liches may move away, but luckily they aren't able to teleport and cannot harm you if you stay outta their range of sight (if i'm not wrong:).
