congrats echo!!!!!!!!!, I am still trying for my first win, and I too have been playing for over 4 years. Guess I get to careless when my char starts to get good. got a good one going now, HE Archer. Precrowned with Natures companion (again), and in a small vault in the UD, found both "worn boots 30s" and "long sword 35s". Gnomes gain levels almost twice as fast as gray elves. Gnomes have a higher hp than gray elves. Gnomes heal faster. Gnomes > gray elves |

I object! They have slightly higher mana, they have a longer lifespan, they are more dextrous and stronger. Not that any of this would be of importance for wizards, but: Gray elves are cooler than gnomes! Thus: Gray Elves > gnomes. You drop the golden ball. You kick the golden ball. It slides to the west. Gnomes rule ! Elves may have more mana and longer lifespan but in the mid-late game it doesn't really matter. Mana can be relatively easily gained by various means and a gnomes lifespan is quite enough unless one gets very unlucky with ghosts and the like. And AFAIK elves are NOT stronger than gnomes but the other way round (could be wrong though). And dexterity is easily gained with herbs. And...imagine a short and stumpy gnome beating steel golems into scrap metal with bare hands. A bit more impressive than an elf doing that. Sytytä toiselle tuli ja hän pysyy lämpimänä jonkin aikaa. I think you're missing my point. Logical considerations are not relevant. Elves are just *cooler* than gnomes, that's all. ;) BTW, according to the guidebook, elves *are* stronger than gnomes. 1 point, to be exact.
