My High Elven beastfighter gets "attunement to the astral plane" as his first corruption, and I have teleport control. Grand! Then I proceed to go into Waldenbrook's and buy stuff.

The game asks me where I want to teleport. I press 'Z', because I do not want to teleport anywhere. The game thinks that, by pressing 'Z', I do not want to control where I teleport, and sends me to a random location, which happens to be outside of the shop. Waldenbrook gets angry. I quit the game.

Have you experienced this?
If not, then I hope that you have learned from this misadventure.
Suddenly a stone block hits your head! Your looks improve. You feel more in touch with the world.

I once was in the Terinyo shop and got teleported out. Only that I didn't have teleport control... >_<
You drop the golden ball.
You kick the golden ball. It slides to the west.
Suddenly Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, appears! "That's not how you play Quidditch! are you even listening?"

Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, is hit by a bolt of acid! Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, is annihilated.
You hear the ecstatic cries of a large crowd!

Don't press 'z' as z removes your control. just press 'space' cause then you teleport to your current location and noone gets mad.
You die...

I was once teleported right into the center of an opened tension room in the ToEF - fire giants and demons all around.

Luckily, after a couple of turns surviving I got another random teleport to the stairs out of the tower, so i managed to get away with both my life and the orb...

I was in that situation too, just prayed both in real-life and in-game and walk around till the thing kicks in again.

Um, teleport traps only kick in when you step on them...

Been there; done that. :D

Only when I did it, it was in the Casino (insert wail of despair here).

I didn't live very long, thanks to the guards...

Thanks to lack of sleep:
I still thought you are talking about tele instriction, that why I waited for the thing to kick in.

Teleportitis, I believe it is called, right?

It's very annoying even if you have teleport control, when you are trying to learn a very powerful spell. "Petrification" took me at least ten tries to get, the other times I was teleported. >_<

Impossible. Suddenly you stand elsewhere.

Of course, of course. But not all of these places are easily accessible (in fact, pretty much none of them are), especially in the early game. And later on, you can read books more quickly anyway. ;)

That's why I think that teleportitis is not beneficial for wizards even if it is controlled. I'd even go as far to say that getting it should be avoided. A single one of the two (sort of, but they're not that rare anyway) guaranteed spellbooks of teleportation should last for the entire game, and the extra PP cost for casting is not relevant at all.
