Not sure. There is a rumor that there are higher chances of getting positive effects (or even wishes) from a pool if it is the same color as your PC's eye color, but it is probably really just a rumor. Fate Smiles and Lucky have positive, Cursed and Doomed negative effects, as far as I know. Also, I think that the effects that make you lose or gain an intrinsic are one for each intrinsic, i. e. if you drink from a pool, and the RNG triggers the "acid resistance" effect, it makes you LOSE acid resistance if you already have it. If you do not have it, you gain it. This means that the more positive intrinsics you have, the lower your chances to get more positive ones are. The chance for a wish is unaffected by this, it is always the same - depressingly low :( You drop the golden ball. You kick the golden ball. It slides to the west. Doomed chars get more vaults? Man, I've got to get myself doomed. :P Also, I've had great luck with a golden pool in the UD once - got around 1 wish out of 20 tries (this was a scummed PC). Move the cursor to the desired position and press [SPACE] when done. Impossible. Suddenly you stand elsewhere. You see an ancient altar of black obsidian. The goblin rockthrower suddenly shouts a prayer to his gods! You are consumed by a roaring column of flame! |

Some vaults are determined when you create a game (this is a good reason to create games on Friday 13th), and some are generated as you play. Being cursed(or doomed) increases monster generation and probably also vault generation (but don't get yourself doomed unless you know what you are doing).
