I finally completed my first win last night!!!!!

My Dark Elven Wizard is very corrupted though, so I'm planning a dive into the ID until either corruption is cleared from potions and scrolls that I find, or I die at some scary depth.

However if I die, can I still post it as a win?

wrong forum

Anyway, congrats for the win

And yes, I think you can still post your character as a win, since the death message will say something like "was killed by -foo- (after winning)"

A proper win however involves leaving the Drakalor Chain (either physically or spiritually) and you won't get the full points score if you die. There are a number of tactics to get rid of the corruption, and I'd suggest you try something other than a suicide dive.

Oh, and congratulations :)

Since there is no background corruption anymore, you can pretty much stay wherever you like... Aren't the Blue Dragon Caves a good place to scum for wishing gear and/or corruption removing items?

Morio: one doesn't necessarily need to deal with ancient blues in the BDC. In my experience the types of dragons vary depending on the depth. In the early levels one meets mostly baby blues, little deeper mostly normal blues and deeper on ancients. Since also ordinary blues drop some nice items and they don't see invisible Jules could scum such levels. Also, the casino shop could also be a possibility if the char doesn't have unholy aura (and preferably no mana battery either). Just move all contents of the shop into a far corner and wait a bit for restocking.

The Real J. you're right, but then again what's the fun if there's no challenge? :D

But seriously, you should leave your equipment (or the more valuable stuff of it) on the stairs to the BDC, since you might(will) get some stuff destroyed down there. Also, if you wan't a challenge, try "clearing out" the last level of the caves :)

Maybe a quick peek into the water dragon's lair could help... I found a wand of wishing (5 charges!) there once and was killed immediately after picking it up.

Well, I forgot to mention that he mustn't, like I did, forget to put on an amulet of life saving ;)

...so that you can instead have the amulet of life saving ripped apart, and then die. ^.^

Hmmm...Aren't AoLS made of some higher metal ? So they shouldn't be destroyed by lightning breath.

No; the AoLS is notorious for being destroyed in door traps. It can be destroyed just as easily as any other amulet.

Robbing the water dragon's lair...

Spoiler
...is best done in darkness, with enough speed to outrun Mommy Water Dragon to the entrance.
