I still come here, though rarely, for a few reasons. 1) The site usually either will not load, or loads so slowly that I become impatient and give up. 2) My new computer uses WinXP and won't play ADOM the way I want, so I don't play it. 3) There were some posts that I didn't like which deterred my interest. Still, I've been coming here so long, it would be difficult to just forget about it. Cheers. |

I guess most of the inactivity is due to the slowness of the forum. IIRC the slow time wasn't just a little while but lasted quite a long time. I guess many people just got enough of it and left. Palagran (and you others too for that matter): if your dosversion of ADOM doesn't work in WinXP, try this: 1. copy the file 'autoexec.nt' to the windows system32 folder 2. if the dosversion of ADOM still doesn't work, click start -> run -> command.com and try starting adom from there hope this helps "I don't know what World War 3 will be fought with, but I know World War 4 with be fought with sticks and stones." - Albert Einstein |

Hmm, having not been here that long I don't know what the forum was like before the slowdown. Will be interesting to see... As for not enjoying ADOM on WinXP, get ADOM Sage! I'm active, too, as of now, but I don't check into the General forum that often. Which is partially linked to my inability to enjoy religious wars. You drop the golden ball. You kick the golden ball. I appreciate the suggestions, but none of those methods will help. I looked at ADOM Sage, and it seems like a useful too, but it does not fix what I'd want it to. The main thing I dislike is the color scheme in WinXP. It was vastly different in Win2000 and is definitely not a joy to behold. Also, the cursor behaves strangely (as in when using missiles, etc.), and it performs painfully slow as well. Also, MODE CON LINES does not work with the provided DOS emulator, making the maps quite distorted. I've pretty much discarded the game, as much as I hate to say it. Jan, have you considered moving the forum to a better site? InvisionFree is a good one; it has tons of customizable features, is free, and runs very well. I don't think anyone here would want me in the religious discussions. I'm content to occasionally peruse the various conversations here. |

If anyone cares to look at the religious debate topic I think they will find it both meaningful and enlightening, and certainly something everyone can participate freely in.
