My second Drakish Barbarian has done very well so far. Now I descended into the rift. I lost most of my useless stuff I carried with me, a secondary weapon, and, worst of all, a climbing set. I tried to find the Ratling Dealer, but a Shadow Wyrm and its cronies killed him right before my eyes. Now I have no source of climbing sets... drat. What do you think, should I try to drink off a pool in hopes of a wish (for climbing sets), or what? Your situation is desperate. So if there is a pool, try do drink from that pool. Apart from that, you can only hope to get a random drop in your favor. Good luck. I had the same trouble once. I spent ages building up the 50k gold needed to buy a new set only to find that the ratling had been killed. I spent a lot of time killing and pickpocketing in the rift until I got a RoDS. One point of warning: keep away from the lowest 3 levels of the Rift, they'll corrupt you like hell. You'll still get good items on the higher levels. Waldenbrook, the dwarven shopkeeper, mumbles: "I'd offer 9 gold pieces for yer dwarven child corpse." |

Heh, corruption's not a problem: 2 uncursed PoCC's and 1 blessed SoCR (4 blessed PoCC destroyed). But I just drank off a pool but nothing useful, a To drain, water snakes, another teleport control and fire resist... none of them needed.
