once you are at level 50 and have all the items you could possibly want, is there any point in killing more monsters?

also, let's say your skills are all maxed and you have all the class powers you want (the ones gained at levels 6, 12, so on) and your stats are high enough that they wont really increase naturally anymore. is there any point to gain more levels after that? i mean, you don't need more skill points or class powers, and the game check to see if your status should increase isnt much use either.

i got these questions because my elven druid still isnt quite strong enough to try some things and i was wondering how much of a difference gaining levels would do.

PeanutGod: Awwww no! How harsh is that! This is where you need the artefact 'mop and bucket'.

Increasing in Level will also give you HP and PP. Pretty important, if you ask me, especially if your toughness is unlikely to increase on its own anymore. The only other way to increase your HP without gaining levels (Aside of reaping what little points you get by increasing strength and willpower) is gaining levels.

Generally, you should always try to gain levels. I mean, isn't that what RPGs are for?

(Except, of course, you're going for an ultimate ending. You will want to postpone leveling for some things then.)

gaining levels require killing monsters, which takes some time and longer than necessary if you're simply teleporting from one stairway to another.

it is also either very slow if you're killing weak monsters or reasonably dangerous if your killing something stronger.

so if the benefits arent all that great (but with class skills, they are pretty good), i wont go out of my way to kill monsters :P

no, because you can't level up to beyond level 50.

Battles still help you increase skill points in weapons and shields, as well as effectivity in spells. Both of these can make huge differences to how strong your character is. But if you're happy with the training you've already had in these then go ahead and teleport around. I'd recommend book-casting the spell to train your Mana more (since it uses more PP).

Even after having gained level 50, you'll still get occasional skill increases (I got them, at least) that are possibly linked to your gaining experience. So if your skills aren't maxed out yet, go on and fight monsters until they are.
