I bet that this was answered ten times before, but, what is disadvantage of crowning vs precrowning?

Currently I collected 200 stoma in UD and found altar, however, after offering, my alignment skips from N- to N=, is there some way to quickly lower it?

Spoiler

Regular Crowning:
+Gives immunity
+Gives permanent blessing
+Gives artifact useful to your class, choses randomly from a set , small list
+Has no level requirement
-Can only be crowned once
-Become fallen champion if you change alignment afterwards (angry god, no ultra ending, no more blessing *waaah*)

Pre-crowning (also post-,)
+Can be had multiple times
+Can change alignment afterwards freely
-Has level requirement: Your level must be equal or greater than (8 + 3*number of artifacts generated).
-Cost for successive precrownings increases cumulatively
-If you are at extreme alignment (L+, N= or C-) you will get a regular crowning.

How to drop from N=:
Sac stomofillia in dwarftown. Afterwards you lead dwarves off level and kill them. Attacking neutral + killing lawful gives double alignment hit. In the UD...think you need to find neutral monsters to kill. Id head up to the HMV, enough neutrals there I should think. Unless you have a amulet of chaos (not the artifact)

This is why I like Lawful precrowns. Also because its easier to live sac.

or you could kill chaotics to go to N+. CoC and dwarven graveyards might have enough undead to make a difference in your alignment.

PeanutGod: Awwww no! How harsh is that! This is where you need the artefact 'mop and bucket'.

It was Molach who forgot it, and:

Spoiler
The only food consumption decrease champions get *is* the lowering of the increases for equipping artifacts. There is no additional decrease.

You drop the golden ball.
You kick the golden ball. It slides to the west.
Suddenly Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, appears! "That's not how you play Quidditch! are you even listening?"
Which direction? (123456789) 4
Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, is hit by a bolt of acid! Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, is annihilated.
You hear the ecstatic cries of a large crowd!

And a little extra bonus for being crowned:

Spoiler
You can convert the 5 temple altars. Not really much use though.

As for changing alignment, there's a number of things you can do to get back up to N+:

Spoiler
Whip yourself (get naked, put the whip in your tool slot and 'u'se)
Give money to beggars (1000g at a time)
Give seeds to farmers
Heal pets
Complete quests like the dwarven ones
Wear an amulet of order, especially a blessed one

Ok, precrowning is in my opinion infinitely better. You can get it THEN crowning, and a bunch of the crowning gifts stink for some classes (Gauntlets of eternal peace?!?!?!). Anyway, all the attributes for both have been listed so I won't. Suffice to say, you want to get precrowned then crowned.
Homework is not meant for home! It's a sick verbal coincidence!

My excuses, Elerius ;-) And thanks for the clarification Silfir.

Spoiler
Why would anyone convert temple's altars? What is the advantage of it?

Spoiler
Well, you can't sac the guardians themselves as far as I know, but it might be handy if you want to sac all the demons and grues for piety. More likely is if you're a completionist and just want to get everything converted (which is in itself very risky when already crowned, especially for lawful since they'd have to do it twice). I would never bother myself.

Aye, that's the trouble - you need a high enough sacrifice to convert the altar instead of yourself. This would normally mean stepping on it and saccing a huge pile of gold. But trying that in the middle of the temple without invisibility is just asking for trouble. And if you have invisibility you've got no reason to bother doing it as far as I can see.

even with invisibility it's risky. chaos servants can see invisible.

The ADOM Guidebook lists how much gold is approximately needed for each postcrowning.
As for the temple altars, it's always good to have an altar close.
