Hrmmm... I'm somewhat against opening up new catagories. In fact they should all be on the same list (it's still the same game, is it not?), but labelled UD, UCG, Norm, and whatnot. Oh and perhaps "Timely deaths" would be a better description. Just wanted to tell everyone that i finally got one of my chars pre-crowned and i got BoW. Weird that he happens to be a hurtling elementalist. I always tought that hurtlings were a really tough race to play, but i quess i was wrong. oh well.. I hope that he'll survive UD... "Faugh!" snorted Tahngarth. Messiash yeap trolls level very slow, but you have a lot time to increas your pc trributes, and pc will gate more hp and power points when he will avance... deep in infinity dungeon troll very fast make levels, greater moloch and greater titans.... Hmmmm I never found Cloak's of Omen or Brannalbin's Cloak of Defense or boots of the divine messenger .... One time I try conquest a Platinium Girdle (trollish femalenecromancer), but I didn't... It's to hard for me:) I kiss giant frog and he change in to trollish prince (my pc was trollish female necromancer). He gives me gold and some stuff... Ofkorz little frog from poole gives me gold ball.... Did someone make this "frog quest"?:) |

Talk to every frog you see, sooner or later (a random chance I think) one of them will turn out to be a cursed prince or something like that. You'll get a bunch of apearence enhancing stuff in exchange for the gold ball. It's more of a easter egg/joke than a real quest, you can sell the raward for a little cash or wear it all for sligntly lower shop prices, but that's all. Jan Erik Mydland HoF admin |

ye guys, the ultimate spoiler, EASIEST WAY TO WIN? includes characther combination, the quest's to take with recommended level's and maybe places to gain good weapons(isnt the DarkForge good place for sword and polearm users) the library maybe for spellcasters.. dunno, leaving this mission to anyone who thinks is good enough.. ..hell no, im not.. by the way, i've newer won, best character was dwarven wizard lev 43, died caus' got no source to cure corruption.. The best place for nice stuff are in blue dragon caves, but it's for more experience PC with Stranghe of Atlas:) Casino shop is nice place, high prises but money are no problem there:) Dark Forge to but when PC are a low experience, the best why is teleport for stuff pickeup identify drop and escape with the best armor and weapon:) On road to piramid its a good fighting with sceleton patrols, a lots of undeads sceletons, zombies and ghuls. Items are generated in corelation with number of monster. When are a lots of monster there is higher propability for items, spellbooks for casters and other... "Insect, we care not for thee. Hmmm a good places for newbies.... What race and clase of PC. I always playe a necromacer and on the begining: sometimes I do tiny girl quest in popy cave, but sometimes I going there on high level:) Sometimes I fight in Infinity Dungeon and sweech 1 level with 2 to refresh dungeon:) Sometimes I penetraite Smale Cave found if posible waterproof blanket and go to High Vilage Moutein. About 4-5 Kranach quest and than usualy quest with made carpenter About level 10 I usualy walking on the road near Piramid and fight with sceleton patrols and alone necromacer:) Never fight with chaos pilgirm:) Next I make sherif quest (kill crime lord) dwarven quest and if I have nonchaotical aligment make barbarian quest. About 13-14 level Piramid and Rehetep and after it I continue dwarven quests. Nonstop I changing my aligment begar, barbarian and training in thief guildia. About 17 I go to High Mountein Kings and to the ToEF or Water Temple (ofkorz if AoLS was found/wish:) And when I save Khely sometimes I have crash... maybe I'm just cursed and doomed:) After ToEF usualy I have level ~23 and I go to the bug vilage and after it Minotaur city... It's a realy lots of combination to play in ADOM, but I play only necromancers and I didn't know about other clases:) If necro are alive for few first levels than he is a nice to playing:) P.S. nice avatar dac! yea, BM gave a pretty good idea what to do there, although i usually do carpenter quest, then puppy quest, then go to the CoC. if i have survival i'll usually work it up to 100 as soon as possible, then go wander wilderness to get xp and weapon marks. places i rarely go: Pyramid (been there abt 3 or 4 times, beaten it exactly once), Dusty Cave (almost never...), Bugville (unless i have a good bolt spell and a pair of good sheilds [e.g. one guy had a crystal tower shield and a mithril tower shield. found both of them.] and armor), and the darkforge (went there once, got killed, never went back.). other than that i just explore and kill monsters to try and gain some XP so i can deal with bigger baddies. also i rarely go to SMC unless right at the start. if i *do* go to SMC later on it's only if i found good invis source (not just potions). ivan.sourceforge.net |

Marks for weapon skill I usualy make in animate trees location it's very fast method to make Mastery in few weapon skills after killing 3000-4000 animate trees new genereatd trees will be more experienced and can injure PC Shield there the best is train first... Bug vilage? Hmmmm invisibility from items and bolts bolts and bolts:) When I have a realy good PC i killed bugs with cast burning hands or if my PC is realy fast speed about 350 and faster and blesed seven leauge boots I usualy fight with sting and needle. on invisibility ofkorz:) I check on ancient blue dragons and greater molochs when I use sthetoscop, power of backstab with sting and needle and with phase daggers. Sting and Needle ofkorz roolez. It's the best weapon in ADOM. Stab with full force with Sting (ofkorz twins daggers together) deal about 600 demage (Strengh 99, skill daggers level 13) and slay ancient blue dragon. Phase daggers are beter only with incremadible armored monsters, but it's deal about double demage it is marked (commends "shift w") SMC.... Hmmmm only on low levels to find waterproof blanket and on level 50 to animate powerful slaves:) I animate quickling queen and king Liches. It's very powerful slaves. Great speed, fast deamge, fast hiling, wonderfull companions. And they have only goal protec theirs master:) It's sometimes paine when your slave fight not heal himselve, , but protect necro is first. And sometimes on few tours sleaves are blocked, freezing, only stand and waits. I lost in this way few my quickling liches. Ones I make sparing with my 100 level quickling queen lich. I worn artefacts and items to increas my tougthnes and kick my Lich. I see only flood of atack and flood of my resurection:) After 15-20 resurection number of my hits was constans something about 500 hp. But first it down to only one hitpoint. And it is some kind of "overclocking" hits point "Insect, we care not for thee. Disturb us any we will extingwish thy weak candle of life" |

I've just won with a Hurthling Priest and added it to the win list. If we keep going, maybe between us we'll win with absolutely every combination :-) Hurthlings seem pretty hard to get started because of their very low strength. I also had a rather hard time with staying lawful... often eating an undead corpse would take me from L to NL, and stealing everything in the Casino shop took me straight to C-. I was lucky none of that happened after I got crowned. |

Ever tried taking a lev. 1 hurthling archer to Bugville? If you kill the first bug the early game is much easier, as you've just gained quite a few levels... If it kills you, no loss, just start up another... Die Gedanken sind Frei |

i had a hurthling elementallist die, who gained +17 ST over the game... about 15 was from training. IIRC he ended with 21 ST. he started with 4. it was *tough* ivan.sourceforge.net |

Duke, that's pretty impressive - what killed you in the end? It also reminds me of a question: how much do you have to pay Garth before he'll train stats beyond their potential? I know the formula for training them up to their potential (100-1500 GP if the stat is between 1 and 15, 3200-4000 GP if it's between 16 and 20, and so on) but not how to make him increase stat potentials. |

he got surrounded by hostile trees in the animated forest. i tried to think a way out of the situation, but bolt spell=more hostile trees to fill the spot of the one i kill, and burning hands/fireball (didn't have any other ball spells yet) would get the whole forest mad. well geuss what i started doing: firebolts/burning hands/etc. he just couldn't handle it, even with a crystal tower shield in one hand and a mithril tower shield in the other. he took 128 trees down with him though... Ii, the hurthling elementalist, was killed by an animated tree. He scored 101265 points and advanced to level 17. He survived for 0 years, 28 days, 22 hours, 46 minutes and 30 seconds (22035 turns). Ii visited 34 places. His strength score was modified by +17 during his career. His learning score was modified by -1 during his career. His willpower score was modified by -7 during his career. His dexterity score was modified by +4 during his career. His toughness score was modified by +2 during his career. His appearance score was modified by +2 during his career. Duke, did you have any means of teleportation? Even without control you'd probably have been teleported to an area where the trees weren't hostile. Alternatively, just whack them in melee combat until there's space for you to start moving again. BTW I think lightning turns the whole forest hostile too - that Hurthling Priest I was talking about earlier accidentally zapped a wand of lightning in there and they all got mad. Luckily I'd already found my way through the Dwarven Halls. (Don't go in there unless you're _sure_ you can survive it, though - I've had a few characters die in the Dwarven Halls, but none in the Animated Forest yet.) |

actually, IIRC i had intrins. tele, but it was kicking in really rarely and slowly, and never when i needed it (only when i didn't). he really sucked n melee, no good melee wepons, almost no skill in any... generally he was only good with spells (IIRC he was +25 or +26 in burning hands, and in the mid teens with firebolt and ice bolt and magic missile.) ivan.sourceforge.net |
