who wants one free skill at start up? maybe this is just luck but the last 4 games i played i chose restore a previous game but i didnt have any saves, but i got the 1 free skill at the start. 4 times in a row now. hmmm helps getting heir gift The stone giant runs away in fear. Who ever heard of a stone being scared of gravel?

You mean one free talent? Just luck, or you not knowing what affects talents. Right from the game manual: Initial Talents --------------- The initial number of talents is determined according to the following rules: - Every character receives one base talent. - Characters born under the sign of Falcon or Candle receive one free talent. - Characters with a Mana score of 18 or more receive one free talent. - Gnomes and hurthlings receive one free talent. - Bards, merchants and farmers receive one free talent. - Characters whose sum of attributes is divisable by 7 receive one free talent (this represents some inborn magical luck or talent). A pessimist sees a dark tunnel. An optimist sees a light at the end of that tunnel. A realist sees a train. And the train driver sees three idiots on the tracks. sorry i should have explained a bit better. i was talking the initial talent , receive one free talent . it stopped for a while and then i got 3 in a row again. i'll do some more testing today while at work :) The stone giant runs away in fear. Who ever heard of a stone being scared of gravel? |

I do "testing" all the time, since I stopped using the 'g'enerate option. Why? I can never rememeber if I saved someone or not. Hence it's been 5 years of non-stop "testing". There is a bug which is quite similar, try this: - set "Allow_Default_Names = true" in config - generate a new character, let ADOM choose the default name - remove your equipment, and save the game - generate a new character of the same race and sex, again let ADOM choose the default name Apparently you will play your first character, but receive the stuff of the second character (heir gifts included). Did not explore this further, I don't know if any other strange things happen. (Of course you can change your name to another race's default if you want to get starting equipment of another race.) |
