Is the pc more likely to be cursed or corrupted when..

1. wearing many cursed items? ("they say that cursed items may cause bad luck")
2. carrying cursed many items in the backpack? (same as above)

3. carrying *corrupting* items (like the Black Torc, or the Orbs) in the backpack?

Thanks!

No, it doesn't really work like that...

Some items curse and/or doom you when worn. Some of these are cursed, in the sense that you can't take them off, but they don't have to be. Your char being cursed and your items being cursed are two different things...

2 Examples: The artifact sword Kinslayer. It always curses itself when you wield it, but it doesn't curse your char. Then there's the artifact axe Executor: this one curses your char, but isn't cursed itself.

Things that curse/doom you have to be wielded/worn to have that effect, they're safe to carry in your backpack.

Corrupting items are different from this altogether. Some artifacts corrupt you just by carrying them (the chaos trinity, black tome). These are very bad. The orbs only corrupt you when you use them, they are safe to carry and useful to have in the tool slot for the stat boni. Some weapons (moon sickle, "corrupting" prefix) corrupt you when you damage a monster. Oh and the black torc isn't corrupting. You can check the guidebook for information which artifacts corrupt and stuff.
If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away.

Thank you very much, J.

So the rumor "they say that wearing many cursed items may be dangerous" is sort of false?

And: that guide says that Black Torc "gives bad luck". What does that means? Cursed? Doomed?

It is dangerous to wear items that doom you, like the crown of science, and if you wear lots of them, they combine to become super-dangerous.

The black torc is autocursing.

You can distinguish the Doomed and Cursed intrinsics on an item the following way:

"This item grants bad luck" = Cursed

"Wearing it makes you doomed" = Doomed

So the black torc makes you Cursed. That's why I consider it major suckage. It's pretty useful as ratling fodder, though.

Bad luck and corruption are two entirely different things in any case.

You kick the golden ball. It slides to the west.
Suddenly Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, appears! "That's not how you play Quidditch! are you even listening?"
Which direction? (123456789) 4
Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, is hit by a bolt of acid! Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, is annihilated.
You hear the ecstatic cries of a large crowd!
