Okay, here's the deal. I've got a promising drakeling barbarian, lvl 16, crowned with vanquisher, still haven't killed any cats. I've found plenty of forges and altars and shops, but not one level with herbs besides the big room. When I got to the big room for the first time and looked all over, I found one square of herbs, all else was either empty or single squares which died off. Now, what's the best way to get this square expanding? ################### #.................. #............"".... #............"".... #.................. So, it's kinda in the top left corner. I've got 28 holy water, so I can grow I'll guess I can grow at least five squares pretty reliably and still have a couple of them left. The herbs it has are moss and spenseweed. That's pretty much all I need, but still, I'd like to raise my Wi and some curaria mancox so I can eat kobold shamans and not wait 500 turns for sickness to wear off. If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away. First you get a 3x2 row, by adding 1 bush (A)like this: "".. "".AGiving: """ """ Harvest(H): H"H """Let grow once: """ """Harvest: "HH """ .". This figure will explode. Test out at this location so you know it wont fail: Game of Life simulation |

Taken exactly from the guidebook: It is sometimes possible to move herb bushes to the lines you want in order to get a particularly desirable herb. You need four herb bushes in a "T" shape, like this (again, view it in a monospaced font): ... """ .". When it's time for new bushes to grow, you'll get this pattern. . . .". """ """ . . .pick the bottom row clean. . . .". """ ... . . . and wait for another generation to pass. . . """ """ .". Then harvest the bottom bush of each column to oblivion. """ .". ... You can also do it the other way around, of course. (\_/) (o.0) (> <) ( / \ ) Don't click this http://www.mindistortion.net/iwantyoursoul/?i_am=Darkcutter |

Thought y'all would appreciate a link to my favorite herb site. Just follow the link then click "play life" http://www.math.com/students/wonders/life/life.html You can use it to determine what any pattern you come accross will grow into and how to most effectively create a garden out of it. Here's a shot of the garden i made using 0 waters or seeds, having a huge garden totally negates the need for herbalism (Archer), they grow faster than i can harvest and i got a uncursing scroll (only ones i need blessed are spense and i got enough water for that). The three traps shown are tele traps, created the outer two so i could harvest faster (tele control). ############################################## .......................................".....# .......................................""....# .................................""..........# .........<......................."...........# .............................................# ..........................""............""...# ..........................".........^..."....# ...""..............................".........# ..."..................^..........."".........# .........^.............................""....# .......""..............................".....# .......".....................................# ...".........................................# ...""........................................# .............................................# ############################################## [Edited 1 time, last edit on 9/26/2007 at 17:22 (GMT -5) by Narcolepcy] |

normally i'd go for ""." "".. "... it IS explosive. it remains expanded for couple turns. and if worst comes worst it self stabilizes. upper wall will be hindering your case. i suggest diging it for extra row, but even than it's lifespan will be shorter and it will tend to vanish at some point. best herb simulator for me. Thanks for the suggestions. I tried something, and got some neat squares of different things, then tried to pacify the room, during which something had happened and the herb situation got kinda screwed up, then tried some tricks again and now I've got at least one square of everything, which is more than enough, I only really need spenseweed. Just found a new kickass pattern, try this in the exact middle of the big room " " "" "" " " It stabilizes into an oscilating 13x13 pattern that would enable you to get mutiple 4x4 for every herb, and it has multiple stages at which you can stop expansion. |

So, I managed to get my first win :) I was very lucky this game. AoLS dropped somewhere in the pyramid or dwarven graveyard, RoDS somewhere in CoC before casino. WoWi with four charges in the blue dragon caves, another RoDS on D:50. Wished for 7LB, GoGS, emperor moloch(hadn't invested in smithing at the time, thought I'd speed leveling up a bit), speed*3 on D:50 and concentration after buying "SoA in casino on the way out. So in the end, it was quite easy. I really like drakelings, alertness is good, I found food preservation got me tons of corpses, music helped a lot with cats. Only downside was the speed loss on D:50. How do you guys deal with it normally? I'm guessing not every character has three wishes to spare. Potions of boost speed lasted long enough for maybe 1/8th of the fighting, and it's really corrupting there so I wouldn't like to just wait it off. ^^^ ^^ ^^^^^^ ^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^ ^^*^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^^ ====^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ^^^@.^ ^===""""~~ ^^&&&&&&&~~~~~~~~~~~~^*^^=======^^*^^^^^^^^^^^^..^^ ===="""~~~~ &&&&&o&&&&&&&~~~~~~~&&&========="""""""&&^~^^*^.^^ ^^^"""""~~~^^^ ^^^&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&==""""""""""&&~~~^....^ ^^"""""~~^^*^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^&&&&&&&&&""""=""""""""""&&&&&o..~^^^ ^^^"""~~~^^^^^^^*^~~~~~~^o^^^*^"""""""""""""""""""=="""""""""&&&&&&&&&&^^^ ^^~~~~~~^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^""""""""""""""""""""=""""""""&&&&&&&&&&&~~^^ ^*^~^^^^^~~~^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^"""""&&&&"""*&&&&""""=="""""&&&&&&&&&&&&~~*^^ ^^^*^^^^^~~~~~~"o""""^^"""""""""&&&&&&&&&......^^^^=="""""""&&o&&&&~~~~^^^ ^^^^^^^^~~~~"""""""""""""""""&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&.^^*^^===""""""&&&&&&~~~^^^ ^^^^^^~~~~~"""""""""""""""&&&&&&&*&*&&&&&&&&&....^^^^==="""&&""&&&~~~~~ ^^^^&""""""""""""""""""&&&&&&&&&&&&&*&&&&&&&&&.""""""===="""""~~~~~^^ ^^^ ^^^^&&""""""""""""""""&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&""""""==""====""~~~*^^^ ^*^ ^^^*^&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&^^^*^^^^&&&&&&&&&&&&&&"""""===""""""""~~~~^^^^ ^~^ ^^^^^^^&&&&&&&&&&&&&^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^&&&&&&&&&&""""""=^^"""~^^^^^^ ^o^ ^^^^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^+^^^^^^ ^^^ ^^^ ^^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Son St:99 Le:48 Wi:73 Dx:65 To:79 Ch:39 Ap:27 Ma:35 Pe:46 N- DV/PV: 63/69 H:1289(1289) P:12(715) Exp: 50/44375033 DrCh Sp: 141 Blessed Bloated Berserk Drank all boosting potions and healing potions at the end for good measure. As far as I know, fire spells help you regain your speed as a drakeling greatly. You drop the golden ball. You kick the golden ball. It slides to the west. Suddenly Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, appears! "That's not how you play Quidditch! are you even listening?" Which direction? (123456789) 4 Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, is hit by a bolt of acid! Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, is annihilated. You hear the ecstatic cries of a large crowd! |
