Now I'm getting CRITICAL INTERNAL ERROR, Signal 291 when I try to start adom. I re-installed the game but I still get it..
You pick up the Wand of Do Nothing.
'z'...
Nothing happens.
't'...
The Wand of Do Nothing misses the kestral. Come on, it's a Wand of Do Nothing!

Which version are you using? Have you tried using another one (i. e. winbeta if you're running the DOS version or the other way around?)

It should be impossible for the error to still exist if you did properly delete the game and reinstall it, as you delete all game data if you delete the game folder, and the versions you can download should work as they had on yours.

Also try reinstalling to a different folder, or even a different drive. The problem could be something far more serious than an issue with ADOM.

(Edit: I just realised how insane that sounds - how can anything be more serious than a problem with ADOM? ;P)
