Its day 60 and i've just completed the temple of elemental fire and i only have one potion of cure corruption left. I've done everything i can before i save Khelly should i... 1) go to the Dark Pools to drink pools and try to get a wish for an amulet of life saving? 2) create a gremlin bomb to obtain an amulet of life saving there? or 3) let Khelly die and try to complete the game quickly? If the answer is 1 are there any specific precautions that i need to take? Thanks |

Gremlin bomb is guaranteed to give you an AoLS or RoDS, it's only a matter of time. I like to pickpocket drowning gremlins in the water dragon cave myself, doesn't make your gremlin kill count too high so they don't get too experienced. I'd say you should go drink from the pools in Darkforge regardless at that point of the game. There aren't very many bad effects you can't cope with. You have sold a couple of blink dog corpses to shops haven't you? Just make sure to have a coaligned altar somewhere, and go sacrifice every time you get doomed, you can't get a wish from a pool if you're doomed. Also, if you get lucky and get parazyzation and death ray resistance you might want to stop drinking right there and get your wish/AoLS some other way. If you decide to save Khelly, you don't have to worry about the 90 day limit much, as he gives you plenty of SoCRs. Also you can always train climbing and stealth to 100(Yergius the master thief can help) and get more SoCR from the library. Those, in addition to the unicorn quest should be more than enough for the game, as long as you don't do anything stupid like do smithing on a corrupting level. You don't HAVE to save Khelly of course: "It's yer choice." If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away. Don't forget the scroll in HMV and the scrolls in the bug temple too (though they're all cursed when you find them). Waldenbrook, the dwarven shopkeeper, mumbles: "I'd offer 9 gold pieces for yer dwarven child corpse." |

Paralisys resist, intrinsic invisibillity (has drawbacks, but usually none after ToEF), teleport control, teleportitis... Tons of useful intrinsics to be garnered from those pools. Be sure you are lucky, fate smiles, with anhk, not doomed or cursed. DO NOT DRINK UNLESS YOU SATISFY THESE REQUIREMENTS. 2) create a gremlin bomb to obtain an amulet of life saving there? If you don't get a wish from Darkforge gremlin-scumming is the best thing to do. It gets to feel cheap after you've done it a lot, but gremlin-scumming is a painless way of getting any item.
