This is the worst I have ever been part of in my ADOM career: Start a dwarven barbarian. Find AoLS very early. By day 60 I have the chaos trinity. By day 80 I have all the orbs. On day 88 I go search for Filk (of whom I know nothing). On ID90 become tired and out of wand of monster detection. Decide to go on to ID100, but find Filk on the very next level right next to me (turns out a large bat was the key). Talk to Mad Minstrel. Go to SC. Chop down EM in 4 turns dual-wielding axe of penetration and phase dagger. On day 100 i venture back to talk to Khelavaster. However, while crossing the river there is one thing in my backpack which get 'totally drenched' - the crumpled scroll. No trident, no andor, no fame, no nothing. It would have been my first ULE with absolutely no saving and no praying. What did I lack? Strength? Power? Equipment? Stamina? Nope, just a simple waterproof blanket. Now I go to bed. |

My sympathies. It's always worst when you can't blame the RNG or the Creator, but only yourself. You pick up the worn boots. |

Yeah but then he needs to finish that old hags quests and then get crowned chaotic. That can take _LOTS_ of time if you are unlucky. You need tons of socr. I know, I've done it (it's even in the hof). But that gotta suck loads. I wouldn't play adom in months if something like that happened to me. Isn't the crumpled scroll supposed to be an artifact? In that case the destruction by water surely is a bug... but who would continue to report bugs anyway? ;) --- 2336 bugs have not yet been tackled... It's not an artifact, and can easily be destroyed by the elements. The weird tome on the other hand is an artifact, and I have to wonder if it can be destroyed... One artifact that certainly can be destroyed is the Phial of Caladriel - kicking it can smash it to pieces. Waldenbrook, the dwarven shopkeeper, mumbles: "I'd offer 9 gold pieces for yer dwarven child corpse." |

I am now over the horror and have started another quest for the crumpled scroll. Trollish druid lvl 22 on day 61, recently picked up the crown and the medal and very, very recently picked up a very, very nice ring from a very, very nice cat. Xp will of course be a problem and it doesn't make things better that I had to leave the eternal guardian alone. I need at least a couple of RoDS for molochs. Now I must see what the casino has for me... |
