How does one activate a ring of djinni summoning and what should one ask for. (lvl 12 grey elf priest, crowned twice)

Hi, and welcome to the forums. You've posted this thread to the wrong place - it should really be in the Spoilers section of the forums.

As for your question, the simple answer is dip the ring in a potion of holy water and 'U'se it. As for what to wish for, well that really depends on the character. An amulet of life saving is useful for giving to Khelavaster later.

It has to be blessed, if it is already, by all means, drop it in holy water. (Check status by dropping it on altar.)

As for the question, AoLS is good - if you are going for an ultra ending. If not:
-eternium plate mails, tower eternium shields if you have crappy of either
-dragon scale mails for immunities, red if you want to go in the ToEF but have no resistance.
-Find Weakness or Food Preservations are examples of useful skills to wish for - wishing for Alertness gives you +Perception however.

There, fixed :)

(I didn't start the nitpicking, here!)

AoLS is good even if you're not going for an ultra ending, by the by. Six blessed scrolls of chaos resistance with one wish are too awesome to pass up, and allow you to take your time playing the game, since you can deal with the 90 day time limit easier with them. Kickass armour you can get later, and you don't rely on it as much as a spellcaster. The ToEF is still far (and elemental gauntlets plus Ring of the High Kings plus intrinsic fire resistance is all you need anyway).

Seven league boots are also worth a wish.
You drop the golden ball.
You kick the golden ball. It slides to the west.
Suddenly Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, appears! "That's not how you play Quidditch! are you even listening?"
Which direction? (123456789) 4
Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, is hit by a bolt of acid! Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, is annihilated.
You hear the ecstatic cries of a large crowd!

"Pairs of seven league boots" - you didn't start the nitpicking, and you didn't end it either :P
