Doing fine with my beastfighter so far: Saved khelly, got the 7lb, one RoDS for a rainy day and dozens of pools for a wish to drink from. Going for an ultra ending for sure but I still have a loong way to go.

So my question is: Does any beastfighter stand a chance against the evil most foul? Without using ANY missile weapons that is. Trying to role play my beastie a bit and don't want to use them.

I had a very nice and powerfull beastfighter earlier at lvl 37 that died because of my stupidy, surprisingly, but even with that char I was only dealing something like 1d28+100 damage when berserking which just isn't enough against Andor, I think. Only met him once though.

Any opinions? And I still do not wish to use missile weapons.

Without missiles... you will probably get slaughtered. First of all, you won't use your hands, you have to use the Trident of the Red Rooster. That right there means you won't get your nifty beastfighter abilities. It is much easier to simply use humanoid slaying ammo, quite easy to find too.

I lost an "unstoppable" beastfighter to Andor. He killed anything very very easy, but against Andor he just didn't match up.

Wimpy wizards have taken out Andor easy in melee due to the tridents slaying ability, but the way of the fist just didn't cut it.

Mabye I just was too low on healing power and speed with that character, he wasn't super-upped. You do not need to wield trident while fighting him, but when he gets close to death you must. So arrows then might be good.

Beat him with you fists till hes almost dead, then equip ToTRRooster, then 'k'ick him to death.
Because kicking is unarmed combat as well right?

Gotta try that kicking thing. Currently at exp. level 30. Ran into a room full of greater molochs and a room full of greater mimics at the same level. Run away one would suggest but that level unfortunately happens to be the earth elemental temple level. Well gotta kill those bastards later after clearing out some greater vaults. Does anybody know how much pv Andy has? I'am doing a little under a hundred points of damage in melee so I'm getting my sorry ass kicked by greater molochs with pv over a hundred and fast regeneration. So if Andy has a pv of 100 I'm going to get toasted SO fast.

Beastfighters kick as bad as all the other characters. Even with Grand Mastery bonus damaging Khelly won't be easy...

His PV is 50, so that's okay. Main problem is he has 10,200 HP. ...Yeah. If you cause 50 damage per hit then you're talkin' over 200 rounds to kill him.

Hm, you might want to max out your Strength by wishing for a ring of weakness and hunting down ogre armies. Even then he stat-drains badly, so you'll be wanting plenty of dexterity to avoid his attacks and blessed stat boost potions to recover from them. Obviously he hits frickin' hard too, and death ray is a whole load of fun, so you'll need a tonne of HP and plenty of blessed ultra healing potions (prayers won't work remember).

Important is to remember all of the equipment and resistances needed, and to be able to cater for many things he uses like darkness and summoning purple j's. You might want a stethoscope too so you can check on your progress now and then and so you know when you need to equip the trident (believe me, you do NOT want to kill Andy without the trident equipped - it is the most shameful ending possible).

If you wear blessed gloves do you get an extra 50% damage against demons with unarmed fighting?

Well, the unarmed melee bonus for beastfighters gets bigger when advancing in exp. levels, so I believe that at the time I reach (IF I reach) the chaos plane my unarmed damage will be significally nicer. I am only at level exp. level 30 at this point. And I'm also determined to find that bulky girdle.

Got plenty of SoCRs so I don't have to worry about the corruption so much. Got plenty of time to hang around and gain that experience needed to advance to level 50, which is quite a lot for a dwarven beastfigher (don't even mention trolls)IMHO. I'll try to check out that blessed gloves thing tomorrow, a very interesting question indeed. Currently my elemental gauntlets are not blessed so maybe there is hope for me after all when fighting with greater molochs and the emperor moloch. Depending whether I go for the chaos god or yltimate ending...

Thanks for the help so far.

Unarmed combat gets extra damage, but only the one with fists, not the kicking damage. Maybe you will get above 50 PV, but not for much. Calculating Andor's HP in the "critically injured" range so you only start kicking if he's two or three kicks away from death will be *hard*.

So I advise this: Suck it up and use those missiles, at least for the "critical" phase!

To be honest it's not even likely you'll exceed 50 damage with a kick attack... If you're not going to use arrows perhaps you might like to use something slightly more beastfighery like throwing the RCT at him? Also corruption's going to be a major issue if you're take on some of the tough boys in melee. It's best by far to bypass D50 and teleport straight to the gate. And the time taken on the ChAoS plane killing Andy will be heavily corrupting. It's best if you go for a lawful ending in this circumstance.

So missiles it is. Come to think about it, I do have humanoid slaying ammo. Gotta train up my missile skills then.

Just finished off Nuurag-Vaarn. I was kinda afraid because a looong time has passed since I've played ADOM and got this far. Anyways, Nuurag was a wimp. I almost felt sorry for him for taking his chaos orb because he sucked so much...but I slaughtered him anyway and without mercy of course.

And speaking of SoCRs, I have six of them, my writing sets allow me to write at least six more, bug temple will give me three(?, haven't finished it after the rewards were tuned down) and after I'm done with bugs and the quickling tree the unicorn will remove my current corruptions.

If my beastfigher was to perish I have a nice dwarven paladin on his way to save Khelly with amulet of life saving...I love RNG at the moment.

By the way, blessed stethoscope doesn't do much against AnDoR... I just learned.

Only way to tell progress is to see your hits going slightly - moderate - seriuosly - critical.

My dead beastfighter had to spend a lot of time bashing at him, stat drains and corruption kiled him. His stats got drained so bad that he missed all attacks.

And I did have humanoid slaying ammo too, but didn't hit very much. So be sure to train it. A lot. That level of molochs should work well for this. Just be careful of the sudden "Greater Moloch adjusts to your power" because then they suddenly move fast like you.

Blessed gloves don't seem to provide 1,5 multiplier for beatfighters against demons and such. Unfortunately.

Pardon me for going slightly off-topic, do blessed weapons give 1.5 times damage against demons, or 1.5 times to-hit, or both?

1,5 to damage against demons and undead. Dunno about the -to hit modifier.

My beastfighter ran into a surprising problem: I got one RoDS but no clue what to wish for! Alreydy found that bulky girdle, got 14 SoCr + 3 from the bugs, I still haven't visited the greater white unicorn, 7lbs...I got it all. Maybe Find Weakness skill? Can it be wished for?

Find weakness is one of my favourite late-game wishes.

You could actually consider saving it, mabye you need (even) more SoCR. Because you mabye need to spend quite a while on the chaos plane, in addition to time in D:50.

Perhaps an even better wish is "speed" just before (or right after) you enter the chaos plane. Will boost your speed quite a bit, make everything there safer. My last plane-diver went from 180->350, and it dropped so slowly that it was still 250 when AnDoR fell.

That speed boost sounds amazing! Maybe I try it out insted of Find Weakness.

Once had a char with speed close to 300 permanently...killed everything...except Andor who stat drained my toughness to 0 and I died. Andor eas critically injured. Never gotten closer to a special ending.

But now I'm determined to blast Andor into oblivion...advancing slowly though. Also playing a dwarven paladin. Currently at level 13 and already with amulet of life saving and a RoDS. I bow before thee, RNG.

But again, thanks for the tips!

Okay, now I'm pissed. My beastie is unable to gain entrance to the bug temple because of the ghostly legion which blocks the passage. This is the 100 deaths requirement, right? The thing is, My chars have died over a hundred times. I just entered the bug temple with a troll who was on level 1. WTF? It can not be that a hundred deaths were required AT THE TIME of my beastie being originally generated, can it?

How am I supposed to survive Andor without that nice speed and dexterity bonus from the bugs, not the mention those potions and SoCRs? Should I remove ADOM from my hard disk right now?

What about... trying to play without? Just wish for speed after you enter the planet and you have all the speed you could want. Wish multiple times for even better effect.

You could get a speed boost from the quickling tree instead. Also, with a wish for speed you should have more than enough anyway. As for SoCRs... Hmm, you may just have to try and do without, though it'll be difficult. You're going UCG, right?

Have you tried beating the emperor moloch yet? He'd be the best comparison of how well you can do against Andy.

I kinda used my wish already. It was the strangest thing ever because I accidentially rubbed the ring! And this is not a joke...I was trying to reach another button but my finger got lazy. So I wished for find weakness. My speed is something like 160, which sucks.

I'm not sure yet about the ending. I now have two parts of the trinity and I am going for the id dive next. And also got to train up those missile skills.

The problem in ultra endings is that I'm currently at level 42 (close to 43) and level 45 is required to get the Filk quest (correct me if I have mistaken). I have already killed just about everything I can think of (no greater vaults generated, visited level 48 already). The earth temple and the casino level still remain unexploited, though.

We'll see...

Earth temple will definitely get you to level 45. You can always spend some time in blue dragon caves for more, or skip around the deep id for tension rooms (normally the likes of greater molochs). Oh, and make sure you kill the elemental grues on level 48 - they give good xp. If you have the Slow Monster spell it helps.

Ha ha! Just got the third part of the trinity. Malakai has an INSANE melee attack. I had something like 850 hp and I attacked him with berserker tactics and slighty injured him. Then he hit me...in a SINGLE turn I was down to *ONE* hp and poisoned. Note to self: do not berserk Malakai.

We'll then I zapped him with wands a couple of times and he was history. Only got something like 50000 exp. from killing him. Sucks.

And I met a greater moloch too. Thank you find weakness skill! Before, I could not kill GMs at all. Now I'm able to do it healing myself once or not all and without using any wands or missiles to soften them up first.

They're okay as long as your speed is high and you're cautious about letting them step to you first. Malakai was quite unnecessary for you - I'm surprised you did him given your worry about corruption.

Help wanted...again :). MM just revealed the location of the scintillating cave. ID dive provided me with more than enough exp (as well as a RoDS). Now at level 47. I've heard that the emperor moloch has a PV of 200. Correct? At moment I bash something like 1d34+130 maximum in melee plus I got find weakness at 100. I've also heard that the last level of the cave is massively corrupting. I smell trouble coming my way...

I've done just about everything (except the EM) and have 10 corruptions. My char has 12 SoCr and 2 PoCC and a RodS that I'm saving for that speed wish once I enter tha chaos plane.

Well, um... You have practiced diligently in the arts of the missile attack, right?

Now's the time to bless a bunch of demon slaying ammo and/or penetrating ammo, I think.

If the EM is spawned near the stairs, you could try luring him away from that massively corrupting level... But since that bastard is so slow I advise finishing him off with your demon slaying ammo. BLESSED demon slaying ammo. Have high missile skill.

Since you're fighting without weapons, you can't get a penetrating or demon-slaying melee weapon, and without that, the emperor moloch is probably too powerful to be taken on in melee.

Yea, I won only because monks can utilize their kicks when I had to wield the trident.

can't you just blast him away with bosted willpower+blessed wand of fireballs/offensive alchemy.

casting spells via wands/scrolls/crystals doesn;t strengthen him and i don't reacal him being resistant to any elemantal attacks.

why you are insisting on bashing/shooting him?
