I found brass knuckles. Don't know what they're good for, maybe they increase monk or beastfighter damage.

I've found a lot of those, yeah, melee damage goes up.

I recently found a ring of gain attribute as well. Odd. Never seen the boxing gloves though.

Apart from that... Not much. WoW once on the dwarven halls. AFTER I beat the game...

Boxing Gloves are that odd/rare? I usually find 1-3 of them in every serious game. (serious game = levels 16-17 and above).

The oddest item I have found in a dungeon has got to be fish meat.
Which is normally found by using survival on water squares while bloated.

Has anyone actually found wands of wishing during the game/before finishing? I've done ultra quite many times, but i have never had one.

Yes, I have. More times then I have found a piece of fish meat lying around, acctually. ;)
4 times, If I recall correctly, one had 5 charges, one was picked up with the mana battery corruption, which I forgot about (lost 2 or 3 charges, can't remember exactly).

I found one with 6 charges in the animated forest once. Another time I found a 2 charge wand in the CoC graveyard. Came in handy, but didn't significantly change the game.

5 Wishes?!?!? WOW indeed.

You can get Find Weakness, Concentration, Food Preservation, Alchemy, Ring of Weakness, ect. THAT will significantly change the game.

Well 7 wishes in the case of the char that got the wand with 6 charges. He was a wizard, and since it was very early in my unspoiled ADOM career I wasted most of them. From what I remember I spent one on bridge-building because I thought I needed it to get across the pirahna lake, and another on spellbooks of Create Item because I thought it would let me get loads of cool stuff (hah!) The others I spent on PoCCs (didn't know about SoCRs back then) and PoGAs.

I've never found a wand of wishing. I usually find 1-2 djinni rings and only one wish is possible from pools. My current char has twins, cow axe, is going for totrr and i still haven't found any wishing equipment!!! I'm definetly being screwed by the RNG.

My very fist wand of wishing had 5 charges (six wishes), but I died right after picking it up.

Guess why :)

I just got 6 pairs of 7lg boots from a 9x5 ancient red dragon tension room. Though 7lg boots aren't that rare, it's rather unusual to get them in heaps.

You had manabattery-corruption, freaked out and quit? ;) Nah - probably you wouldn't. Maybe picked it up during battle while low hp instead of healing yourself cause you couldn't help the temptation.

Found a WoW only once in huge giant cault - zero charges of course (not corruption caused)...

In euphoric state of mind Silfir thought he could take a greater moloch in melee with his human wizard and eternium dagger of devastation...no, oops, that was me...

I've stumbled over a WoWi for two times.

First one was found from a tomb in CoC graveyard by elf priest. It had four charges if my memory serves me right and I dumbass sold the wand with zero charges to Waldenbrook instead of wrenching the final juices out of it. That one died later on cat lord level, in a mimic tension room :P

My second glowing wand was found very recently. My orcish assassin found one amongst some wolf corpses in Infinity lvl 49. It had 6 charges. This assassin was taking part to chaoticchaos's challenge game and I'm posting his victory post in near future. Better details in that post..

Soirana: WoWi, hmmm... Mana battery might have a special effect...You weren't crushed were you?

Did the wand cause your death or did a nearby monster do it for you?

I want to figure this one out!

Solution to the riddle (though belated, sorry):

You pick up the glowing wand. Suddenly Shyssyrixyus, the water dragon, is standing right next to you! Shyssyrixyus the water dragon breathes water at you! You are washed away! You die...

The fact no one guessed my death can only mean you don't usually check out the water dragon's hoard in every game like me... Strange, aren't all ADOM players MAD for TREASURE?

(Hint: DON'T STEAL ANYTHING UNLESS IT IS DARK)
You drop the golden ball.
You kick the golden ball. It slides to the west.
Suddenly Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, appears! "That's not how you play Quidditch! are you even listening?"
Which direction? (123456789) 4

I do go looking in the water dragon's cave, but I only pick up stuff if there is a RoDS in there and if I am high-level. I don't want to risk death by Dragon Turtle (darkness works well enough for Shyssyrixyus and you are expecting it and definitely have means of teleportation and teleport control).

Silfir, didn't you get the prompt when you tried to pick it up, "A voice booms in your mind *MORTAL, DO NOT DARE TAKE THAT ITEM!*" then says "Do you still want to pick it up?"

But yeah, that water breath has a chance to instakill, one of the most dangerous things you'll run into.

I just remembered, about the boxing gloves. The to hit bonuses, which can be somewhat large, apply even if you're wielding a weapon. Good boost if you don't have any better gloves to wear.
