Man you guys are killing me with curiosity. Harsh indeed. My own attempts at a limited turn / relatively but not relativistic speed game have been abysmal (I would be more than happy to get in under 60000 turns and/or 90 day limit to be honest): lots (20? 30?) of elves went to fairly quick deaths, gnomes doing a bit better. Current gnome getting screwed by RNG into becoming somebody else: 1/ surge of power on Si level gave her the dwarven pickaxe, making mining for knowledge dreadfully tempting. 2/ Four spellbooks in Waldenbrooks, two invisiblity, one strength atlas. Awesome shopping. Fourth book, Wish. Oh my god, Wish. Am on book caster line already, so now trying Archmage attempt becomes horrendously tempting, with trip to library and maybe BDC scum. 3/ Found WoW with one charge in DH2, so saved Kelly for tele book, and now attempt for my first ever Ultra ending tempting too. Currently at top of pyramid at around 16000 turns (was in ID for ages and ages before first spellbook of Tele and Telecontrol), with one more wish, not sure what to do about temptations. If I wish for spellbooks of Acid Ball, now I have my second Telebook, I guess my Gnome could still come in under 60000 turns (still no magic map), but, but, but Wish...... I hate dilemmas |

Man, that is one dilemna and a half. I'd say go for an ultra if you've not had one before - they're quite fun. Archmage ain't worth it though. If you want to continue with the speedrun then acid ball would certainly ensure a very quick progress through the game. Hmm, I'll have to see if you get even more of a points bonus by making the turn counter negative when leaving... If so then I guess the score can go infinitely high (rather than just the 80m bonus you could get otherwise). (this is, of course, merely from the point of morbid curiosity) I've been thinking in terms of xp, which is the other big influence on the score. Greater balors give a huge amount of xp, and supposedly chaotics praying on ChAoS will have greater balors summoned to attack them. Anyone ever tried this? If say 10 greater balors are summoned, and they give 5mil xp each, and you slow yourself before the final acid ball... you could be talking 100 million xp or more. That's around 30 million points. I think I remember reading on rgra, that the balor summoning trick only works if your diety is chaotic. It is close to a death wish for a wizard in this challenge to get surrounded by balors, at least for most of my PC's anyway. To have GREATER balors whacking at you would be suicide. Put me in the 'fool filter', where I belong! |

My guy did okay :P But yeah, perhaps not the best idea, especially trying it whilst slowed. What I was mostly pondering though is the trade-off between gaining huge amounts of xp and finishing the game quickly. Perhaps it's more profitable points-wise to make a perfect character and gain huge amounts of experience from greater balors on D50. Also, it'd be fun :) Of course I'm not too fussed about points really - finishing the game in the shortest turns possible is a much more exciting challenge - but it's interesting to think about. <<<Long post - if too boring, scroll down to bottom, I have some questions.>>> I suck so badly at this game sometimes *shakes head*. After descending from the pyramid, I decided to leave my Gnome's options open a while longer, and using Invis and teleports, did the Griffyard, and raided Darkforge, taking a few semi-risky levels on the way, with the aid of a few lightning balls. I then sorted my stuff (nothing too amazing, although eternium plate of balance kinda cool for a gnome), and retrieved the RotHK, taking time out to bolt to death loads (32) of cyclopses on the bottom cavernous level, and thus gained another level. I then decided to do a 'naked' artifact /higher metal only bloated exploration of the Tower, so I dropped my stuff off at the CoC entrance. I take a bit of a pounding (wielding Nonnak's sword rather than two shields) until I gain another few levels. I get to penultimate level, and oh my, another Surge of Power. Two in one game == rare. Hell, one is pretty unusual. I can hear "Hrumpfh!", so I recast a few more Invis spells, and carefully explore my hot environment. Turns out there is Monrot / Bonkat / Mentat or sometime (I really should remember to write the names down for these reports) the named Dorn Beast. Cool. I bolt him with lightning and magic missile, and the occasional Frost if the fire beasties are standing in line, and eventually he moves, and I dance around him to pick up ... ... W a n n a G u e s s ? . . . Protector. OMG. I have never had this shield before. Awesome. I spend loads of turns bolting him to death, and then decide to nip up and scout the final level, whilst putting my dwarven axe to good use with some tunneling. And here I make my ridiculous mistake. (I am totally planning to come back later remember, with some healing potions and blankets, and cursed PoI etc etc etc -no decent wands found though sadly). The MiStAkE: I dug myself a straight tunnel. A non-bent, distinctly lacking in pixelated curves, straight tunnel. Oblivious to my error, I wake up the elementals (a few levels always welcome of course), and decide to wake up Wyrm before heading back for my gear. WTF??? (((I guess Protector had gone to my head - it certainly made me think I could now achieve my desired relatively fast victory (remember, my last winner was that stupid trollish salesperson who took 2.5 years of game time)...))) So I speet een hees general direckshun, and suddenly come to my senses when he starts attacking my mind. I have no healing apart from CureCritW at all, and have sword, shield, ankh and axe to keep me company, along with two eternium double handers I picked up in the tower. Its ok, I say to myself, I can run away. Then I realise the shape of my tunnel. Then I realise I just killed the only bloody monsters nearby apart from the Wyrm who can see me, and no random *foo* is coming to my aid to shield me in my brilliant corridor. I end up resorting to kicking an fire elemental (funny the habits dual wielding shields builds up over time) as I sprint for my tunnel. As it is, the Wyrm hits me with his bolt once, I pray, he hits me again, I run, he hits me again, I pray, he hits me again, I run, I finally get the elemental in between me and the Wyrm. I run, but at some point the elemental critically hits me, oh thanks dude, and I pray again. I did sack big punch earlier, so I guess I got lucky. I can't outrun the elemental down my corridor, but if I frostify him the Wyrm toasts me. I start sending stun-rays down the corridor, the elemental blocks them, but eventually the fat W bastard kops a load (I kinda love stun ray at times like these). So the W no longer chasing, I frostify the E. I alternate casts of CureCrit a few times with more stun rays, and consider my options. I alternate with frost and stun ray, but staggering W keeps shrugging them off. Grr. To flea whilst the dude is staggering seems so sensible. Screw it. I now advance towards W again (call me dumb), stunning and running, so to speak. Once standing next to him (not had time to Moss my Will+nonnak above 30 even) I start acid balling him (one book read to death early, not used that wish yet). He staggers, I acid ball acid ball stun and recycle. He stumbles into me, I pick up first corruption. He stumbles into me, I get critically hit to 10HP. Damn. I pray AGAIN (my god must be pretty pissed off by now I reckon), he hits me again, I cast CureCritW, I acid ball him, he hits me, I acid ball him, The Wyrm goes down. Oh yeah baby, Rgggggg reaches level 22. And has just 40HP. And some grue is standing on the bloody wyrm corpse and orb, who manages to bring me back down to single figure health points. Frostify and hope, or CureCritW and hope? I chose latter, and get lucky once again, so to cut long story short, I frostify the few other mobs in my stupid straight corridor, pick up orb, and manage to leave top level invisible, with 16/205HP and 4/330 PP. I then check what corruption I got, its bulging cranium, I didnt notice my Wi rise above 32 half way through my fight with Wyrm. Oops. Nevermind, BC is like the best corruption a speed wizard could hope for really. So now I am one lucky bastard standing at top of the CoC, at 25000 turns, on the 49th day, having retrieved Fire orb before Water orb for my first time. Hah, that's some dramatic action all right. Well done on managing to get out alive. Be sure to thank your god appropriately though - you wanna be sure to have so many prayers again in future. A wish for spellbooks of acid ball gets you 2-4 - normally 3. I'd suggest reading 2 of them to death whilst wearing the crown of science and keep the last for later in case you need it. Should get your knowledge well over 1000, and with a true speedrun that'd last you more than one game. You should hope to find more bolt spellbooks though. Pretty cool. I have not tried many castings of stun ray on the ACW. I have tried a few, but he shrugged them off easily. Maybe next time through, I will be more persistant : ) Stun ray is certainly more easily aquired than paralyzation, and it can be stored in memory to boot! The ACW is a BIG hurdle to get past in a turns challenge game. You have a high probability of finishing the game now. The next really dangerous parts should be the Archmage, and D:50. How is kitty karma? > Just one slight problem - really low on > offensive spells: With the Fire Orb, the casino is not far away. If you can make do until then, the gift shop should solve all of your spell needs. If not, then consider your wishing options. You have limited castings, but you have many different spells. I think over 800 castings alltogether. I advise saving your fire bolts and burning hands for the Water Temple. If you don't want to cross the water, remember you can wake the Snake with a diagonal lightning bolt from the outside. Put me in the 'fool filter', where I belong! |

Wake the Snake up with a diagonal lightning bolt? I don't think so - I cast my bolts 5 or 6 times, and the guy just wasn't coming out to play. I tiptoe round the corner to investigate, poor fellow was already dead. What a shame On other news, Rggggg is also dead, due to my extremely poor Casino-fu. Death by shopkeeper <sigh>. Will keep trying with gnomes though, they rule. |

In my present game I was also unable to lure the Snake across the water with bouncing bolts. I have had success with doing that in the past though. Here I go again! My latest attempt at the turns challenge. Knizzurd started out with no particularly good stats. I didn't really intend to play him at all, when I generated him, I was really just wanting to check something out. He started with a spellbook of teleport though, so I played him. I got the blanket from the SMC, some exp. levels in the BUGWIL, and a BD corpse from the ID. I raided DF and found some really valuable items, I had trouble lugging them around because my ST was 12 at the time. I had to leave some behind, but it was still a nice haul. I found another spellbook of teleport on D:2. Very few cooked lizards on the arena level. Unfortunately, there were no morgia or moss patches in the big room of the CoC. That really hurt, I had to do the Griffyard with To at 10. To make matters worse, I generated no 'revitalizing' undead corpses there, so had to do the pyramid with the same 10 To points. I had the invisibility and darkness spells, and they helped a lot. I wound up having no close calls, but it was kind of scary going in to the pyramid with 55 HP's. I did the TotHK after the pyramid. Since I had invisibility, the skeletal king was easily bolted to death. Along the way, I found a spellbook of lightning ball. I decided to take a big gamble, I went back to Darkforge. Luck was with me, and I was never critically hit by the golems. After getting a few exp. levels in DF, I dived through the CoC to get the Water Orb. On D:11 there was a single patch of morgia/pepper. Also, there was a nice surprise waiting for me on D:12, a book shop. I had a difficult decision to make, buy it out, or loot it. I decided to loot it. I used both darkness and ventriliquism, to avoid the summoned thugs and the 'cursed' intrinsic. I gained many valuable books, including two acid ball books. I was able to save my cash for a possible early crowning. I just have to remember there is a hostile shopkeeper on D:12 now : ) I read the books while on D:11, where I was able to harvest herbs and learn spells at the same time. I didn't want to spend too many turns doing that, so I gathered about 25 morgia and left. I then found a REALLY LARGE bee hive just before the Water Temple. I can not believe how many turns I spent, trying to get that stupid lump of bees wax. I kicked and kicked and kicked my little heart out! I had to bolt my way through 82! giant bee warriors with 0 PP's. Made worse by the fact that I only had ~75 HP's to cast out of. Ugh! To make matters absolutely embarassing, there was only one lump of bees wax generated, and I accidentally ate it. The morgia was right next to the wax, one slip of the finger and goodbye wax. I'll just hope for more : ( I gathered up the Ancient Scythe and killed Khelly. I bolted my way through the grave level, again generating no beneficial corpses. The Water Temple was easy, I bolted many of the water goons to death, without even crossing the water. The Snake wouldn't come and play though, so I had to go in after him. I lured him to the tunnel I had dug out, and fire bolted him to death in the darkness. He did panic, but missed with the one shot he did get at me. I can't remember the last time I was crowned before the tower, but this time it was possible. Darkforge loot plus the Ancient Scythe, plus every thing I had (painfully) lugged to dwarftown and sold, did the job (barely). I recieved fire immunity and the Robes of Resistance. The Robes went a long way to fixing my horrible To stat. The ToEF was almost too easy. The extra spells helped a lot. The benefits of an early crowning, especially fire immunity, also helped a lot. Most beneficial of all though, was the tactic of stunning the ACW with the stun ray spell. I had no fireproof blanket for the tower, so I was not able to bring in any PoEH to help me. I had to rely on the Water Orb for healing. Luckily I only had to use it once. I cast invisibility, and used a chaos servant as a meat shield. It took 7 stun ray attempts to stun the ACW, but it was worth it. The stunned Wyrm died quickly to a boosted acid ball spell. Big thanks to vogonpoet for the tip. Lack of darkness was indeed my failure. Not sure which is more riduculous - how powerful darkness actually is, or how good I am at forgetting how powerful darkness actually is. As for stunray, glad it helped - I always like to stun cats in the early game as my main method for kitty karma protection, in order to have some increased effectiveness in time for the W and the tower. Two orbs in under 12000 turns eh? Crazy |

11.2k turns is indeed excellent, and acid ball will help immensely in going through the rest of the levels fast. Personally I'd stay invisible and teleport about as much as possible, only killing the things that are worth killing. May even want to consider the EG for xp - with SLBs and acid ball it'll be easy enough, especially if there's a long corridor on the level. Certainly on form to finish in less than 24k turns. Careful attacking the EG, there's a pretty hefty alignment drop involved. However, you should be able to take him out at least twice before approaching N-flavour. |

I was sorely tempted to kill the EG, at least once. Unfortunately, my alignment was (for some reason) already at N-. I don't remember doing anything chaotic along the way, but I suppose I must have. Perhaps I bolted a friendly who was out of my line of sight. Anyway: Character is dead. Upon entering the Mana Temple, I removed the Robes of Resistance in favor of the AMW (force of habit). I swap the RotHK for a ring of mental stability, and I have already removed the Elemental Gauntlets in favor of the newly aquired Ironfist. I have also picked up some potions of confusion along the way, and have a good shot at beating the Archmage. Well, I never even get a shot at the big guy. On my way to dig out the Mana Temple, I open a door to a tension room, it's full of Ancient Black Wyrms. They all just acid breath me to death in one turn. The thing that really kills about that, is that my previous equipment would have saved my life. Had I been wearing the Elemental Gauntlets, RotHK, and Robes of Resistance, I would have lived. You may wonder why I was standing square in front of the door. My plan was (ironically) to be able to bolt to death the room inhabitants more easily. I didn't realize it would also make it easier, for them to bolt me to death. Jesus Christ, that is one horrible and unlucky death! But uh, yeah, don't open doors head-on :P Stone block traps can destroy important equipment for a start. And you had magic missile which can be bounced around from the corner. Pity you didn't have acid resistance from a corpse, or more morgia to get your HP higher (might have helped). But wow, 15k... you could have easily finished in 18k turns with that. Would have been awesome. Better luck next time :-/ Mana 13? Methinks someone was HP-casting a lot... Normally, I wouldn't post one of these before the ToEF. I just couldn't help myself this time though. This is by far, the weakest PC I have ever taken into the tower. I wouldn't take him in, if I didn't think he had a chance, but it's laughable to see how poorly equipped he is. The standard D:1 screen, before taking on the tower. Good suggestion : ) The Wyrm is dead! I can't hardly believe Blizzard lived through it. Maybe the name brought him luck : ) The tower was MUCH more dangerous than I thought it would be. I didn't have four -fire sources, so that was working against me. I was having to heal constantly, and with 99 HP's, you don't have a big margin for error! Getting to the Orb level wasn't a big problem, though I did notice how much damage I was taking from thrown rocks. I also noticed that I was taking damage from fire attacks, another bad sign. When I dug through to the temple, I once again missed the invisibility spell. I didn't even have a potion. I cast darkness and tried blasting through the fire elementals with ice ball. I was only able to kill one or two elementals at a time though, so my PP's were depleted very fast. I tried casting ice ball from HP's, but that was also really dangerous. I was depleting my HP's at the same time as taking fire damage. If one of the fire elementals had went into a panic, they could have hit me. With so few HP's to work with, one hit would have finished me! I am not 100% sure that elementals are even capable of panic, but this was definitely not the time to test it. So to eliminate the possibility of 'panic hits', I cast mystic shovel out of HP's a few times. With a nice, wide open fighting area, the monsters would have an escape route. I killed the elementals and then noticed something strange, my cursed boots had not burned away yet. I left the tower, and returned to my items. I collected a fireproof blanket, four of my seven PoEH, and a regular iron shield. I was thinking that if the shield lasted as long as those cursed boots did, it might be enough to see me through : ) I returned to the tower, ready for a fight! With my mighty [+3, +1] medium shield equipped, I was feeling pretty good : ) Well, at least a little better. I returned to the Orb level, and blasted through some stray elementals that had wondered up. I dug a tunnel through to the temple, right in the middle of the screen. I wanted the ACW in my sights, with as many 'meat shields' in between the two of us, as possible. To my pleasure and amazement, the Wyrm was stunned with only one stun ray attempt. Unfortunately, I couldn't capitalize on it. There were still all of those meat shields in the way, that were now protecting HIM. I could not employ darkness now, I was not going to run the risk of losing track of the Wyrm. It wouldn't have been any use against the fire demons anyway. I tried to ice ball the monsters again, but just couldn't make progress toward the Wyrm. They were coming faster than I could kill them. I wound up using two PoEH here. I mysic shoveled another wide open space, connecting straight to the temple. I was now able to kill the monsters more efficiently, but now the ACW had cleared his head, and was heading toward me. I let him come away from the temple a bit, so I could fight him without having to worry about too much interference. Two more stun ray attempts, and he was loopy again. Man, I wish vogon poet had told me about that months ago : ) All the wasted PC's! Even with the Wyrm stunned, I was still pretty cautious. He could become un-stunned at any time, and I wasn't guaranteed of being able to stun him again so easily. I also had to get close to him to utilize ice ball, and close proximity to the ACW can be very risky. After taking two ice ball blasts, he did stagger right next to me. I had 50 HP's at the time, so had to stop and think a bit. I could use a PoEH, but with max HP's at 105, one hit from the Wyrm would kill me anyway. I could step away from him, and hope he staggers in a lucky direction, but if he staggers wrongly, then I have wasted at least one turn of him being stunned. I know if he clears his head, he can kill me with one bolt/hit. There are no 'meat shields' to hide behind now! I figure that his probability of stumbling into me is 1/8, so I go ahead and keep blasting. I have to use another PoEH, just to fuel the spells. Then he panics. The ACW takes a step away from me, and I have to stop and think again. He is headed back to the main room, which is a place that I REALLY don't want to go! How to bring him back though? I had no missiles to bring with me into the tower, and he was out of line with a bolt spell. His speed was 130, and mine was only 93. There was no way I could prevent his escape. I sat and tried to think of options for a few minutes, when I realized that he was still stunned. The fact that the ACW had went into a panic, didn't mean he could flee, it was just CHANCE that he had stumbled away from me. At least, that was what I was hoping : ) So I pursue him a step, and indeed he staggers back my way. I blast him with a few more ice balls, collect the orb, and I'm on my way out! That set a record for me, as my most pitiful PC to ever survive the ToEF. Upon returning to D:1, I discover that my mighty [+3, +1] medium shield did indeed survive the tower battle (how!!!?). I also noticed that my cursed boots have burned away. I didn't even get to equip my mithril boots, I packed them for nothing. Oh well. Now I am off to the gift shop, and the Cat Lord. Kitty karma is good, and the RotMC will be a welcome addition to my equipment. If I can find some stray morgia bushes along the way, all the better. I don't know how good the chance of victory is with this PC, he's still pretty weak. I'm feeling very possitive about this PC's chance to win. I lucked out to find a greater vault of giants, just before the casino. The two artifacts were the Ring of Immunity and Preserver! The casino held many nice spellbooks, including magic map. Unfortunately, no spellbook of acid ball though. Well, one can't have everything. Hopefully, I can find that book, before finding the Archmage : ) The vault of giants gave a nice boost to St, but poor Blizzard's To stat is 15. I did just find another patch of morgia though, I picked ~20, while reading the books from the gift shop. Hopefully that will help with getting more HP's to work with. I had no beeswax for the Banshee, but I did have an uncursed potion of deafness. That means I had to pass a hostile EG. It has worn off now though, so at least I can get the RotMC. I also never cleared DF, due to low HP's. I will have to deal with that mess on the way out, if I live. Making the final dive now. Blizzard has just won an epic battle with the Archmage! I went in with three cursed potions of invisibility, and no way to kill him. Well, I had the acid bolt spell, but he shrugs off bolts so much, I knew it would be horribly difficult. Still, I couldn't just wait around, hoping for an acid ball book, so I went in with what I had. I lured him out of the temple easily enough, and blinded him. I tried to acid bolt him, but he shruged off every single acid bolt. Not bad for a blind guy! He came back to his senses, and took me down to ~40 HP's with an energy bolt. I had to rely on the Water Orb for healing, as I had used all of my PoEH while defeating the Earth Temple. I blinded the Archmage once more, and got the same results. I just wasn't hurting him, but he was nearly killing me when he recovered. Also, he would sometimes stagger toward me while he was blinded, and hit/corrupt me that way too. I had to keep using the Orb. I could see that I was getting nowhere, so I used my last potion and ran like a scared rabbit. I rounded the first corner fine, but he was catching up fast. He got in a good shot as I was rounding the next corner. As I was running through the straight final tunnel, he hit me again. I healed, but he was right in line with me. My plan was to stupidly run away in a straight line, continually corrupting/healing myself with the Orb, and hope for the best. That's when I triggered the pit viper trap. I would like to say that I did that intentionally, but I didn't. The pit vipers (bless them) kept me from taking any more bolt hits : ) It was then that I realized how badly I was playing. I could have just zapped a wand of monster creation from the start, for the same effect. I needed to get out of there and think. I made my way back to the stairs and left the level. I noticed that I had picked up the 'poison hands' corruption from using the Orb, so I made the best of it. I dropped all of my potions of 'boost worthless stats' and other less useful ones too. I picked up the newly created potions of poison, applied it to some of my ammo, and returned. My plan this time, was to use the mystic shovel spell to dig out a double wide tunnel. That way the Archmage would only shoot ice bolts at me, not the deathly energy bolts. I used the same tactic for my 'fling the bling' game, so I knew it was pretty safe. My missile skills were all at zero though, so I wasn't hurting the Archmage much. Only about one shot in ten did any damage, but I kept on shooting, hoping the poison would do the work. There we stood, two spaces apart, trading shots at one another. Not in a direct line of course : ) Niether one of us inflicting much direct damage on the other, but the poison was slowly doing a job on the Archmage. It was quite time consuming really. For the best chance of getting a missile through, I would equip the Air Orb for the De boost. He would then just promptly confuse me, so I had to switch back to the Water Orb. Also, I had to cast light a zillion times, as I had no amulet of light. The chaos servants and company eventually came along, to make things even more cumbersome. Before long, the Archmage did panic, and decide to 'fight to death in a blind rage'. Now he was getting more turns than I was, so it was even more difficult to keep lighting the place. He would not run away, as long as he could get a shot at me. So I was taking turns killing monsters, casting light, dealing with confusion, and trying to get in a shot every once in a while. Then I got the 'stiff muscles' corruption. I was now getting very few turns, and the chaos goons were closing in faster than I could kill them. Of course I have no means of coorruption removal in this game. I decided earlier, to see if the dwarven mystic would give the SoCR's to a N= PC. I held my allignment for 2000 turns, but alas, no SoCR. It really is just for N- or N+ I think. Anyway, the chaos monsters were getting between me and the Archmage. This was very bad for me, because the Archmage was coming closer, in an effort to get a clear shot again. I had to try to kill the hindering monsters, but not if the Archmage was right behind them. With the 'extra turns' he was getting, he could have killed me very easily. So I strategicaly bounced a few magic missiles off the walls. I wanted to kill the monsters behind the Archmage, without killing the ones in between us. That way I wouldn't have to worry about the approaching monsters just taking the place of the dead ones. I did much light casting, and careful checking of the monsters wounded status. Once I had both of the 'meat shields' at 'critically wounded' I cast lightning ball, and they both died at the same time. This cleared out the mob, and kept the Archmage from advancing. So I paid more attention now, to killing the approaching chaos monsters. I just let the poison kill the Archmage. I happily collected the Mana Orb and left. The turn counter stands at 13946. That means I spent less than 1000 turns in that fight. It sure feels like it took more than that! To think of the difference that acid ball makes. Goodness. I will now procede to take on D:50 with the 'stiff muscles corruption' (Somehow). Well, I do have lightning ball, and this PC has been very lucky the whole way : ) Here goes. Well stiff muscles is gonna suck big time against the Balors. Do the usual tricks for the big baddies work on them? Can you mix up some flavour of blindness to use on them? Your iceball should be pretty effective also - I like disposing of the chaos wizard mobs that way, to avoid excessive spellbook and other equip drop destruction on d50. Good luck! |

Well, I have finished with D:50, and it was no problem. There were no close calls. The acid bolt spell destroyed the balors one by one, until there were none. I finished up by making Blup happy, and doing the unicorn quest, to clear corruption. This was another game where I generated no scroll or potion of chaos resistance, yet finished with no corruption. Behold, the power of the unicorn. It's great to have this done with. It got to be a bit of an obsession there : ) I don't think I'll be beating 15,634 any time soon. Was probably a fluke to get it this time. I don't care though, it was fun and heart pounding all the way through! Couldn't have done it without the tips from the HoF. Awesome. Truly awesome. Well done gut - I don't think anyone will ever beat that. Perhaps some luck involved, but evidently a lot of skill and determination too :) Personally I wouldn't have even dared set foot in the Tower like that, nor would I challenge the Archmage without acid ball.
