I wouldnt say thief, at least not for me. Starting with a dagger of penetration is uber, excellent class. Druid definitely though, whats the point of all those wildnerness powers when i wont be in the wilderness for any length of time at all. I'll say druid, merchant and necromancer. |

Those are the three classes (plus farmer) that I've played most in the past weeks :) The classes I play least are probably beastfighters and bards. Are elementalists neglected? For the Horde! |

Elementalists own, much better than wizards in the early game. |

Bards can suck tremendous ass or be decent due to the randomness. Beastfighters are pretty powerful once you've obtained some armor and gained a few levels. Druids suck pretty much, thieves suck unless you get three talents, and merchants are probably even supposed to suck. You drop the golden ball. You kick the golden ball. It slides to the west. Suddenly Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, appears! "That's not how you play Quidditch! are you even listening?" Which direction? (123456789) 4 Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, is hit by a bolt of acid! Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, is annihilated. You hear the ecstatic cries of a large crowd! |

You forgot to mention that the bards can own for the same reason. There is one reason I love druids: outside of the arena there is no cat problem. The starting lightning bolt is handy too. I wouldn't say druids suck overall, though they are a bit of a challenge. Thieves are assassins without the poison and a bit of a thieving edge. And I like their Heir gift more than the Bard's. Come on, I can wish for 7LB but I don't think I can wish for that weapon. And it owns phase daggers ^.^ Necromancers definitely aren't neglected, unless you tell yourself that you don't want to use quickling pets in which case they are quite hard to play. I'm not that big a fan of companions, I'm supposed to be the hero. The guaranteed heir is why candle hurthling thieves own, i would never play a non heir thief. [Edited 1 time, last edit on 9/30/2007 at 23:21 (GMT -5) by Narcolepcy] |

druids - very boring to play beastfighters - monks are better fighters - barbarians are better thieves - assassins are better elementalists - wizards are better farmers merchants - they are very weak.. but I really like to play them, expecially with potions as initial items (in this case they start with alchemy, great skill imo) |

Saying wizards are better than elementalists is like saying necromancers are better than druids. Elementalists are a completely different kind of magician, with only their magic being similar to others'. What? No. Elementalists are wizards with worse Learning and who get a couple of spells without books, but don't find even half the books a wizard finds. They're a bit better at surviving the early game (not by a lot, though) and without spell cost discounts they don't get near as powerful later on. Instead, they get a couple of crappy class powers. Necromancers are very different from druids - clerical versus arcane spellcasting - so that analogy doesn't work. By the way, dark elven beastfighters fully stand up to any monk you can name: Spider shell armor and perfect melee skillset while sacrificing only spellcasting abilities. You drop the golden ball. You kick the golden ball. It slides to the west. Suddenly Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, appears! "That's not how you play Quidditch! are you even listening?" Which direction? The automatic spell learning and the class powers *are* what make elementalists different IMO. I tend to notice the name difference more than the actual gameplay effect in my games. (\_/) (o.0) (> <) ( / \ ) Don't click this http://www.mindistortion.net/iwantyoursoul/?i_am=Darkcutter |

Merchant Farmer Weaponsmith i dont make my own weapons Oo nor grow my own trees does anyone make their own weapons? its take a really long time till you get to find the raw materials needed to make a weapon - and by then you prolly woudlve found an artifact weapon.. am I wrong in saying that that's a bad thing?? Everyone beware.. Blog Robert!!! addjenius.deviantart.com |

You dont make your own weapons, you upgrade your weapons, turning that spear of penetration (1d8) into (+9,1d8+9) does have value, i smith with all my characters, weaponsmith are just better at it, and if you do find a artifact weapon u can still smith your armour. |

Certainly feels as if smiths are much much more efficient in terms of success rate beyond the first "despite your best efforts, you fail to improve the foo" message than non-weaponsmiths - they smith faster, and need to smith less often to get same improvement, so in end, its a pretty huge time saving I would say... never had the patience to add dv and pv points to a phase dagger with a non-smith for instance. |

"they need to smith lees often to get same" i'd like to see any numbers behind this claim. Personally i've got a feeling it just about smithing skill. smiths have it skyhigh ofcourse. Ingame time is not a problem. A root is a flower that disdains fame. Kahlil Gibran(1883-1931) |

Of course ingame time is not a problem, it has absolutley no influence on any part of the game whatsoever and should not be even considered when playing, for any reason at all, ever. |

Have to agree with Narcolepcy, not all people love the thought of passing the 90 day limit. The weaponsmith class power that enables you to melt down all metallic items instead of only ore also has to be considered, as it cuts down on the mining you have to do. Personally, I'm not much of a smith myself. I have started playing high elven weaponsmiths lately because I'm in love with their skillset. You drop the golden ball. You kick the golden ball. It slides to the west. Suddenly Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, appears! "That's not how you play Quidditch! are you even listening?" Which direction? I haven't had a PC turn into a WMoPC yet. Then again, when I got so far that it could have been an issue, I was already heavily spoiled and knew all the places where I could get scrolls of chaos resistance. You drop the golden ball. You kick the golden ball. It slides to the west. Suddenly Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, appears! "That's not how you play Quidditch! are you even listening?" Which direction? ULE in 50 days is crazy indeed - takes my PCs that long to work out which end of the spear they are meant to point at stuff. As for smithing Soirana, you are probably correct about skill being everything - though to be fair, a dwarven smith should definitely reach 100 in smithing way sooner (in terms of items smithed) than some poor PC getting screwed by Garth... oops, I mean the smith not garth...whatsisname...Glod? Gloin? Edward? A jebige. [Edited 1 time, last edit on 10/9/2007 at 08:35 (GMT -5) by vogonpoet] |
