So, as we all know, we have usually lots to tell about our current characters and their progression. Here you can blabber about them and comment others without need for new topics or going off-topic.

The dwarven beastfighter I told about on magic pools-thread managed to get the fire orb. It was soooooo easy.. Luring the arse to tunnel, clearing couple monsters from between us, webbing (just to be sure), poisoning with a wand, second zap with wand of paralyzation got him, then going berserk and shooting blessed and poisoned arrow of dragon slaying, and one blessed arrow of dragon slaying and he was down. This was my second time I got through ToEF, and much, much more easier than earlier on. Although I used a wish for red dragon armor, and it could be used more wisely, but I think it was good since I hadn't found a good armor (though hadn't checked DF yet).. More to come, now to eat! :D

my current hurthling barbarian is running around waving skullcrusher looking for things to do. cleared bug cave (still got all those locked off rooms with killer bugs though) and is about to go get the ring of HKs (just found a wand of cold in ID). after that it's continuing to prepare for ToEF. she went in once but fire giant kings were giving her too much of a hard time, that plus the fact that she doesnt have a wand of paralyzation and enough slaying ammo scared her away... for now. with water orb secured and kherab dead, there's only the gremlin cave, rift and ring of HK to do before the ToEF, and being a barbarian, the rift doesnt sound very interesting.
Taz: A potion of gain attributes (4s) is lying here. Suddenly a stone block hits your head! Something on the ground is smashed to pieces!
PeanutGod: Awwww no! How harsh is that! This is where you need the artefact 'mop and bucket'.

well, my current Zen Monk is at clv 12, unarmed fighting lv8, siting on stairs from id3 to id4.

well. equiped with wands of trap creation and just waiting for extrapower in form of wall kicking.

only 27k of experience left to find in forms of rats, goblins and other criters.

done that. no only need to figure how to run gremlin bomb while blind. this means withot picking pockets. and actualy without killing gremlins.

guess i'm back to testing.

I was wondering, are rings of weakness rare? I can't recall seeing many of these during my adom-playing 'career'. I'd like to get one to train strenght.

I've never found one outside of a wish before in my entire ADOM gaming career, and thats been about 9 years. I'd guess that makes them pretty rare, or me rather unlucky.

Get one though, well worth it. Slap it on, remember to drop your stuff, and go ogre hunting in the wilderness (if the ogre armies are around yet!)

My current char is currently in ID level 207.
He's attempting a deep dive. My target is level 666, purely to see if anyting special exists there.
Problem is corruption, four SOCR have been used already, and with only 5 left, and no more being found, its looking a bit dodgy. I have a magic writing set, but its still looking dodgy.
This character is taken from a backup I used just prior to starting the dive for an ULE ending. I achieved the ULE, but now want to see how far this guy can go.
He has already been down to 1hp twice in ID, dangerous place.

I have a Dwarven Barbarian I am sure will hit upon reat fame. Precrowned with ring of immunity, found wyrmlance in Darkforge. Born in Raven, so he's now got the rune-covered trident as well. He has an eternium battle axe, as well as a regular axe of mayhem to dual wield or use with shields. Arrows and Crossbows trained pretty well, lotta items found, only missing a wish. Only level 17 so far, but done everything he can. Ill post my victory later....

Jules - Nothing special exists at level 666. I've been down to level 1392, and found nothing at all. Nothing at 500, 1000, 666, or any special number before that (of course barring Malaki and Filk).

My character died to cat lord. Surprised me with three critical hits in a row when I was sure that he'll drop dead from my next storm of punches and kicks :P

Well, I decided to continue the character with scumming. Although I wished that this guy would be my first legal winner. I've won once with scumming earlier on with hurthling archer, and I will aim on that (I'm not going to revive the char if he dies again - I always play like that if I scum, only one revive).

I've rarely bothered to avoid killing cats. I find it extremely frustrating, plus the fact that cat lord gives tons of exp (this time I got 1772856 xp. Although the bastard was real tough to kill, had to use 5 potions of extra healing and one ultra, plus some spenseweed.

Yeah, if I could just choose either one of them, I'd go for the ring.. But I'm so lazy that I usually can't avoid killing cats. I try it as long as I can, but every time I've gotten far enough that it would matter, I have already killed some cats. And the times I don't kill cats I myself get killed :P

easier to accidentally kill cats with spellcasters if you're firing bolts and balling left and right. if you're a fighter-type killing enemies one by one then it's much easier to pay attention ;)

I beg to differ. I usually in most games not get ball spells for awhile. With most fighters and fighting, I just hold down side arrow. Plus, after a long time of leading cats away from me, I just stab them and walk away.

not only ball spells but bolt spells too. if you're just shooting lightning bolts into a mixed tension room you're more likely to accidentally kill a cat that way. and meleeing can be done by spellcasters, while spellcasting isnt very common for melee characters. but then, it depends on the person, i guess :P

just started a drakeling beastfighter.

on D:5, I kill a female lesser demon and, on the ground, I find a jet black battle-axe. Also found moonsickle, but that isn't gonna be used much. Found a scroll shop, and after drinking the potion of literacy, I read a scroll of identify...and know the funcion of all my items. level 13 drakeling beastfighter....I wish he was a paladin, but then agan, the poison resist saved me against a mean batch of dark elf priestests and thier spiders.

THE ONLY FREAKING TIME I DECIDE TO BE A BEAST FIGHTER! W T H.

I also found moonsickle, and a swift adamantium longsword of corruption, (1d8+6) and some other nifty stuffs.THe elder asked me to kill a giant rat for tje quest, btw :D

Update: My soon-to-win barbatian became a splatter on the dungeon floor instead. Darn it.

Had done everything, decided to kill the library for a few more SoCRs before final dive. I was not THAT corrupted, and I had unicorn quest still.

Ran into a doppleganger king while wielding needle + sting.

First round he did 700 damage. I backed up, healed. Then he did 1400 damage.

I couldn't handle that.

His son, hurthling necro is doing well now.

My save-scum died to mimic hivemind. That was just right for the bastard, his days were numbered anyways. Moving on with the game, maybe a gnomish wizard next.

Doppleganger kings are nasty. My recent ultra nearly died to one. Just finished Mana temple, feeling indestructable and very smug, I waded into a horde of random monsters in a corridor. Only just noticed that my hp was down to 1, and that I was being facing a doppleganger king. Fortunatly, he missed with his next two attacks, and I teleported to the up stairs.
It was the only real close call of the entire game.

Wow! I'm damn rusty! It is rare, that of 10 chars, I can't even get *one* at the water temple (for me). I'll try to get back a bit, and then I will tell about my dwarven WS if he survives.

Well my substitue character is doing very well. As posted elsewhere, just pickpocketed a djinni summoning ring. And wielding the serpents bite against any humanoids.

And best part is: He is only level 21, but has already killed 2 doppleganger kings. Payback time.

For some reason this game has had a few moments of atmosphere added. For example, In the ID I found an orc statue right outside a closed door. Opened the door - into a tension room of orcs. (Well the were actually goblins, but close enough).

And the room that contained the stairs down to the CoC graveyard was filled with 20 Shadow Lords. Just as a warning to turn back, I guess. Strange.

Well, be back in a bit when It's time to post my victory post. Or mabye Ill have to play a certin Gnome Merchant first.

well...my beastfighter saw a longsword that weighed 35s...went to pick it up, and it was set on a teleportation trap.

got teleported between a greater mimic and a doppler king.

Dwarven Halls...fun

That WS was crap, but here I have a High Elven Wizard who has good chances. After doing some ID diving, he emerged with several spells: Frost Bolt, Burning Hands, Lightning Bolt (Starting spell, I don't remember which was the other one), Teleportation, Magic Missile and Cure Serious Wounds are the most significant ones. He also picked up Acid Ball from a bookshop in the CoC later. He also has Calm Monster if it comes to cat handling. Right now he is headed for Griff Bloodax. His 48 HP almost never gets down by any serious amount, because he has Cure Serious Wounds, and a very good Ringmail (-1, +5. Two PV points better than the average.). His best success was however defeating a king cobra named Seebuk in D:4. He guarded, ironically, Serpent's Bite!!! (I first thought it was a mimic so I bombarded the item with arrows.) He is a promising one.

Wow! That is the one spell you know? Congratulations!
Just a tip. Wish actually costs less PP when yuo have over 100 charges of it. So it can be a good idea to learn it when/if you play a wizard.

BTW, that wizard died in the Dwarven Halls. Not in the first voyage, but he found a BLACK UNICORN THREATENING ROOM earlier. He often managed to bypass it, but the teleporting beasts ganged upon him and followed him down the stairs too. No invisibility source, I used up the spell.

Sorry Mr.Bunny about your wizard's death. Black unicons are very tough fight for a wizard at leats my wizards. But ya the dum troll drank a potion or wonder and Bam! 11 in wish. Troll is still going stong but I started another wizard. Going good found a spellbook store on PC1 very cheap. And a nice pair of already pre blessed worn boots on my way to buy some fired bats and lizards. He did get doomed and cursed not quite sure how that happened was a pain but I was able to get it removed and he just cleaned out a pyramid found a book of forst bolt in there so I am thinking it is time to get a ring. He also scored a detect item status off a scroll.
