...make that two. Two in a row got by 291 :/ At least they died early (8&12) so it doesn't bother me that much but I'd really like to get 291 out of the game.

It's been changed, you can't wipe your face in the new versions when confused. But you can still clean your ears:) (thanks BM)

Oh BTW Kayaman where did you get your name? I think I've seen a Kayaman on some other board but I don't think it's you...

I got confused near a river once and yes, i drowned. whee. My chars deaths are always stupid and avoidable in other cases. I hardly ever pray, and usually forget healing potions. with wizards, i forget that they are spellcasters. (melee, melee, ups he/she died...)

"Faugh!" snorted Tahngarth. "Why would it make a meal out of something like you?" Squee looked relieved. "No," he continued, "you'd make a much better toothpick."

Worst deaths have to be:

Death by Blup :)
Companion stupidly triggering Explosion Trap(Damn Dog!)
Any Death where you realize afterward you could have prevented it somehow (e.g. starving "on accident"; dying with healing potions in stock; and for god's sake you can ALWAYS PRAY etc.)
Pickpocketing a Merchant and Failing (He'll give you money alright...)

But the absolute worst simply has to be(drumroll):
Starving - Strained! - No More Prayers; too far away from dungeon. Go to Terinyo Food Shop. Get in and pick up ONE LOUSY RATION one SPACE away FROM shopkeeper - status now Overburdened & Starving!. Try to drop enough to move but starve when finally trying to remove armor! Aaaaaargh! :(

Thank You Very Much :) (Bow)

Well something like that anyway. :)

Must add: "Confusion Blast" through creature and through wall... didn't know there was an UNDEAD VAULT ON THE OTHER SIDE... :(

This happened about two years ago, I had just started playing adom and it was my first promising elementalist. I had enough levels to enter the pyramid. After searching the whole first floor, never finding anything interesting though... noticed that i had SoMM in my backpack. Read it and it revealed the left upper corner which i hadn't noticed. So i ran over there and searched like hell! or, at least i thought so... Before i understood anything, I was reading the ending texts!!! instead of (s) for search, I tapped (a) for alchemy and two potions of water. an enormous fireball erupted, and then I was dead.

That really pissed me off back then...

Umm... How can water mixed with water produce a fireball? Sounds stupid...

I'll never refill my half-empty waterglass anymore... :)

Just remembered a few I forgot when I posted before. Got a bit of an altar theme going on here.

A neutral PC of mine had some cursed items equipped that I wanted to get rid of, so I decided to drop everything but the cursed stuff and kick a lawful altar a bit so that the god would get pissed off and dust my equip. Unfortunately, I didn't realise how badly I'd already pissed the god off when I converted to neutrality from lawfulness and instead of having my equip destroyed I got paid a visit by some rather pissed-off solars. :/

Another time I somehow managed to bump the k key before trying to move onto a co-aligned altar in the early CoC. So of course I ended up kicking it and it fell to bits immediately. My god got pissed off at me and cursed all my gear. "No problem," I think "I'll just stroll back down to dwarftown, sac some gold and bless a SoRC." However, in my preoccupation with getting my inventory uncursed, I forgot that I was running low on food and went straight past the arena, forgetting to stop for supplies as I had orginally intended. Unfortunately I didn't get hungry until I was about halfway between the arena and dwarftown so I was a few levels away from either and none of the monsters I ran into would co-operate and leave corpses and of course I couldn't pray for satiation cos my god was still mad at me. (Ask me he shouldn't buy cheap-arse second-rate altars that fall apart if you so much as bump into them.) I thought I might make it to Dwarftown until (while starving) I accidentally discovered a secret door in a vault I thought I'd cleared and got killed by the ogres inhabiting it.

Converted the dwarftown altar. If you haven't tried this before, take my advice: don't.
The priest doesn't appreciate it and Waldenbrook and the other dwarves don't appreciate you kicking his whining arse. :/

few new stupid deaths:
went to get the RotHK freezed the water. stepped on it and it broke. forgot ice only take your body weight +2000 g. grrreat.

Got sacrificed on a neutral altar by raitling archer when trying to get pre-crowned before the si-level.

My most recent stupid death: I tried to kill Blup's mum by scroll of darkness + berserk rage, she ran off, I went after her and kept on trying to kill her (I wanted to level up), and eventually, even though we were still in darkness, she found out where I was and started wailing on me - of course I died.

First it starts off with the gray elven wizard I created about an hour ago. A high potential from the start with a 26 Learning and 24 Mana and other high stats all around. His stats also added up to be divisable by 7, which gave me an extra talent. Okay, so so far so good right? Okay now I go to the village town, talk to all the quest people, go to lawinthoniel or whatever its called... The first monster I kill is a bandit, and he drops WORN BOOTS... they are normal seven league boots... so I'm doing amazingly good right? Okay so now I go to the ID and I clear the level and find a spellbook of the every so usefull teleportation. Now I go to the harmless puppy cave, and I see another book a few steps west of myself. I walk there and 1 square before the unknown book, a giant block falls on my face and hurts me like -50hp. Now I'm dead. Great.

Yeah, stone block traps are one of the reasons I don't play spellcasters much, as one stone trap can easily kill a low-level spellcaster on full health.

Whats the fun in spellcasters? Ain't as cool to kill greater molochs with acid balls than it is to beat them with bare fists ā la monks and beastfighters. Not even mentioning using thrown spears:)

Hit and run with the R-C trident :)

Just had some stupid deaths:

One hurthling barbarian killed by an eternal guardian... and an eternal guardian... and few others :). I passed him the first time by shooting at him and teleporting before he multiplied. Then I took the wrong stairs - back to DF, so I had to pass him again in the same way. Then I lost my 7lbs - went back to the casino to get another pair, but took the wrong stairs again... and without 7lbs I couldn't be so fast to teleport before the guardian multiplied. But I killed 2 of them, and then the rest of them came :).

One gnome barbarian. Paralyzed and whacked to death by mimic hivemind. And I left my amulet of free action a level below with the rest of my equipment to avoid having it destroyed in temple of air. F**k.

Most annoying death:
My best character to-day.~lvl 29 grey elf wizard in ~lvl35-40 of CoC. Killed catlord and stuff, maybe even got an AoLS in Dwarftown. 200 hp. Uberstuff. Guess what killed me? A grey ooze that paralyzed me. Oh, and IIRC I had permanent invisibility. Potential game winner, and of course I could have blasted the bastard with just about anything. I don´t remember so well any more...

I had to post this...
just started a new character. Dark Elven thief, and he was the perfect thief. I got the year of the CUP, a good wizard start but the learning, i felt, key to the surviving thief. using specially tailored stats, using the questions(attribute changes)in the guidebook, I got a great set of attributes. 15 STR and TO, 22 DEX, 15 LE, high PE. real nice... took me 30 minutes to make this guy lol. I was gonna save scum this guy(at 1st level) to learn the intricacies of the game, till I won some day with him. His name was CokeTooth, the sneaky cunning dark elven bastard.

Anyways, died at first level by trying on some charged leather armor.
"damn, that was dash cunning of them!"
~b~

does this suck? :)

I had a lvl 20-something character drown the other day because I wasn't watching my health. I could have easily made it back to shore if I'd noticed how much damage I was taking... :(

Never got a warning beep either... :/

Um, had a necromancer buying stuff in the Teryio food shop, and noticed my hp weren't full..so I went to cast Cure Light Wounds on myself, but tapped the wrong key, and blasted the shopkeep with a Frost Bolt. He killed me with a single goldpiece...~sniff~ It was just an accident!

i had a lvl 10 or so druid get teleported to a royal gaurd money vault by a trap. i killed the smeg with iceball and took all the money but died of starvation. while i was in there trying different things a barbarian got teleported in too. funny as shit i thought. i had some unidentified wands and zapped them. i actually shot one into the wall 3 times and once to my right. it turned out to be a wand of trap creation cause it made a blindness trap. teleport would've been the only usefull one, hehe. anyway, i starved but not before praying 500 times. i had -12000~ points, not quite enough to make it to my hall of fame. haha, was a promising character too. the end.

All-time stupid death: in VD, went down the stairs to level 7...
...only to be confronted with a mimic and Yrrigs right next to me. The mimic paralyzed me with its first swipe before I could even act, and Yrrigs finished me off, with me just sitting there unable to move.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!
