AARGH! Another one. This time a level 10 human assasin. Did the healer, didn't go for the little dog, I was too late anyways, so I decided to go down to HMV. Found an eternium girdle, tower crystal shield and yes!, the emerald dagger. Got up to HMV... guess who was waiting for me. A giant stone John Wilkes Booth. Tried to ran, but damn they throw their rocks far away. That was it. :(
I should've done the doggy first.

Gee, Babacaman, I had the same. I was just running away from a caveman ( a very experienced one ) in the Dangerous Cave. Just like You I was about to get on the other side when a werefolf blocked my way. Before I could do anything he summoned lots of wolves an that was it.

That wasn't a "death", exactly. I just teleported absend-mindedly to the Dwarven Mystic in Dwarf Town using scroll of teleportation. I had no spellbooks, no wands, no scroll of teleportation left, so I had to quit

I think it qualifies. You would've starved anyhow...

Recently, I had a very typical, very frustrating death...

DH:1... Guess what's going to happen when this PC opens that door? :)

We need a thread like this.

As for mine... eeh... it dropped my morale quite a bit... I was playing a gnomish wizard and was about to clear out the dwarven graveyard (Spells: Burning hands, Frost Bolt, Teleportation, Scare Monster, Magic Missile) Okay, so Nonnak and his undead minions were all but cleared out, the only remaining enemy was our ever so loveable dwarf Griff Bloodax. There was a little problem though, Griff refused to die. Nothing really damaged him beyond "slightly damaged", so I figured that I'd teleport him away like in the previous game with the mindcrafter (who died in the same place due to a confusion blast >_<).

However, Griff resisted the spell. "So the mindcrafter used a teleportation wand", I remembered. Okay, then let's lure him away. But no, Griff refused to be lured. He just stayed in that little hallway when I ran. Well, in that case, what would I think? Let's teleport behind him and destroy him by pouring holy water on the grave! But I had no teleport control, so I would have to try several times to get behind him. But our hero never got to Griff's flank. The first teleport warped him right into a stone block trap. Ouch. -_-

Roll-scummed for characters for about two hours trying to get Raven for a Hurthling Merchant who had just the right random skills, managed to get the multiple-of-7 talent bonus, etc. Finally got one perfectly set up, killed a grizzly bear for my first kill (was proud of myself because it nearly got me,) went to Terinyo to pick up my quests..

Decided to skip the SMC because I didn't want to get any extra levels before I picked up Healing from the carpenter quest. Enter the VD and get an excited feeling, "Oooh sweet this guy's lucky, I'm gonna kick ass!"

..Walked three steps down the hallways near the stairway, "A Huge Rock lands on your head! You are dead!"

...I almost cried!

Maybe he meant Bard, there is no confirmation that he truly meant Merchant in the text so I'd give him the benefit of the doubt.

Yet, now I know why I never scum for perfect character setups, but instead try for almost every character I have to somehow get through. Even for Salamander-born orcish barbarians.

Just died with a level 21 hurthling bard in CoC2

I did the watertemple and darkforge, got crowned lawful, saved khelavaster, had RotHK, 2 RoDS etc.

but then i was stuck because ToEF seemed a bit too hard and i didn't figure out anything else to do so i decided to take a swim in CoC level 2 and drowned ;D

Seems like all my characters die at level 21 to frustration :D

level 7 gray elf wizard. started with 27 learning from random woohoo!

spells learned:

cure critical wounds (1421) 2 books
cure light wounds (829)
death ray (915)
light (1415)
magic map (514) cursed book only 1 read
acid bolt (919)
far sight (883)

hp total = 37

step on a trap, a stone block hits your head.

hp = -57

SON OF A!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh, but my #1 worst death:

level 1 troll barbarian, I go to small cave...and find an oddly weighted two handed sword. I equip sword.

brutal eternium two handed sword of devistation

I then head over to the CoC, through the swamp. I was burded and bloated, and a swamp hydra ambushes me.

G_F_G that pissed me off so much.

adding a new one:

high elven necromancer (level 16)

was great, I had invis, fire bolt, acid bolt, frost bolt (found more than 5 books...had about 2.1k in casting), lightning bolt, magic missile, and acid ball, along with far sight and death ray.

here's how this goes...I was in a room on D13, and I see a shadow wyrm come in...and he starts summing shiz. I kill shiz, and spam fire bolt on him until I run out of mana. when I run out of mana, my invis wears off, and he bolts me from full to about 3 hp. I cast invis, have 0 mana left, and he summons more ghosts.

I'm trapped in a room with a shadow wyrm, which could easily pwn my face, but he keeps summoning crap! I end up cornered, and throw a fire bolt to clear some room (there was no spaces to really move w/o attacking something next to me). the shadow wyrm freezes me to death with a VERY strong ice blast.

I check my stats...I could control teleportation....and I had a (blessed) wand of teleportation with 5 charges in my inventory.

That so far was by far my best attempt at the game, obtaining over 2x the points of my #2 guy, and the necromancer had about 3 corruptions, and about 2/3 the way to being crowned of neutral.

Well it wasn't really my fault, but still.
I was in the cavernous level of the VD with a lv 13 dwarven healer. This guy was a beast, crappy weapon, decent armor but insane amount of potions and scrolls. Anyway, I was just about to go back to VD3 when I saw a black wizard in a corner. Went to attack him, next thing I know I'm surrounded by fodder. No problem, I say, except that on his third summoning lightning vortices arrived. Well you can figure the rest. 160HP...

Am guessing you mean the PC? Never seen caverns in the VD, where you wouldnt go with a healer anyway...

Did you run up and berserk him with everything you had? Damn random summoners have caused me enough indirect deaths that as soon as I am spotted by one I know I have to go for all out attack...

Oops, I meant PC. That's the thing, I didn't go berserk on him. I took my time and killed the monsters he summoned, by the time he had summoned the vortices I was surrounded three squares with goblins, rats, etc. I took some satisfaction in the fact that one of the last vortices to hit me killed the wizard, too :) I took hits from three vortices, prayed, but then four of them attacked me simultaneously, there was no way I could take that much damage :( My mistake was that I didn't go up the stairway or at least killed the wizard.

Haha, I just had another stupid one. My drakish farmer (Molach...) was lv 20 or 21 and had just cleared the ogre cave. He had 7LB's, gave Khelly his amulet and had tons of herbs. I was sick and spitting acid to get to Starving! status (to eat the ogre corpses) but I accidentally hit m 4 one too many times. Result: starved to death with tenths of cooked corpses, stomas, cooked lizards and rations in my backpack.

Managed to get a gray elven wizard through the smc, started with a book of strength of atlas (FTW) got blanket and was going through the ud, got a herb level with morgia moss stomafillia and the poison pair on level 2 of ud that just happened to have a locked door on it, spent several days there farming herbs and left as soon as i was done sickness morgia training, managed to get my mana up to like 31 during that time and the other stats where they were when i died, ran into almost no monsters during that time, i prsume because they were all behind the locked door, got 7lbs and an eternium tower in a lesser vault and cleared a a ton of tension rooms, got lucky and shock resist from a pool and found an invisibility spellbook, got a bunch of good armor and a ring of ice from a random ring shop, went straight to coc, get down to the village and i got about 23 thousand stone of unidentified equipment, used the village alter, (first altar) to detect item status and was equiping non cursed items to id them, found a brutal mithril broadsword of devestation and a crossbow of accuracy, was doing armor and equipped a . . . armor of hate. i was at 71/21 dv/pv wielding 2 shields, untill i killed the priest and my equipment became dust when i became chaotic, (screen shows the backup equip i had) Finally died to the shopkeeper after killing almost all of the village, thought i was gunna get my first win too . . .
