I've got to lvl. ~400 in ID... without cheating, just cummed at the end of the game when I had finished the game... Too damn tought monsters below lvl. 200 in ID... Doppelganger Kings, ancient karmic dragons, werewolf kings, quickling kings and queens, all the time... All extremely experienced of course, hard to stay alive in there. I'll bet invisibility helps, and teleport. Until you get to monsters that see invisible and kill you in one hit, anyway. Die Gedanken sind Frei |

this is a direct quote, crimison... "...just cummed at the end of the game..." now i don't know if you ment that, but at the rate i'm proceding through the game, that might just be a possibility for me. *g* j/k although i am moving really slowly. how long have i been playing? a year? year and a half? and furthest i've gotten was getting the orb o' wetness... ivan.sourceforge.net |

Just got this with trollish monk when eating a rat corpse. What a tiny ...err... wonderful snak! found it pretty funny. "Faugh!" snorted Tahngarth. "Why would it make a meal out of something like you?" Squee looked relieved. "No," he continued, "you'd make a much better toothpick." |

Thomas Biskup as a monster? How do you know he exists and that he deals insane amounts of damage? Also how do you know he's on level 2000? This is really new to me. |

Hmmmmm maybe when you close the gates of chaos then is maybe no corruption efect of background, and is chance a realy dip penetration of ID and find TB?:) After 90 days when you start the game gate are open and after 90 days corruptions efect of backgound works. Ofkors other sources of corruption works well. Orbs, potion of raw chaos, artefacts with essence of corruption et cetera... |

I've save scummed a char whose already won, and have made it to 1359 before i got utterly bored and took a break. (nothing out of the ordinary so far - apart from goblins being able to kill me easily) I've got like 4000 SoCR, RoDS, SoMM, WoTele, almost every artifact in the game. I've been resurrected about 10 times already. I'll give you some updates on how this progresses. (...and everyone type Thomas Biskup into monster memory if you havent already) DougyDougy - Dougy - DougyDougy [Edited 1 time, last edit on 2/19/2002 at 00:13 (GMT -5) by Dougy] |

There's no end or bottom of the infinite dungeon. And I doubt there's a monster called Thomas Biskup at level 2000. If there's any truth in this, please give me some real proof to this. Locke Cole |

Well, if you can descend each level in about a minute it would only take 33 hours of non-shop playing to reach level 2000... I know there is a monster memory for "Thomas Biskup" as well as a number of the people on the credits list (the ones that helped write the monster memories). You sure people are not just spinning a tale based on that? Jan Erik Mydland HoF admin |

i heard somewhere about someone who hacked and got to lvl 2000, and there was no down staircase, but TB was there and he said something like "You mush have cheated" or something, (can'te remember what) and attacked. TB had speed faster than Filk's and hit like 200 times per round for lots of damage each time and reduced the guy to nothing in no time. ivan.sourceforge.net |

Ouch. If you get to lv. 1999, save the game and back up the ADOM directory (just to be paranoically--is that a word?--safe) before you descend. It would be nice to know if the rumor is true or not, and that way you'd definitely have proof! Die Gedanken sind Frei |

Dougy if you don't find TB on level 2000, proceed to 2048. That's another likely number. And Duke don't worry I've played about as long as you and never got lower than the Eternal Guardian. |

Made it and nothing... wished for him, casteth summon monster. (i've got it backed up about every 200 levels... i had many instacheatdeaths walking down those stairs) Fortunately it only took me about 10 seconds per level. Blessed scroll of magic map + teleport. Alright to 2048 i go, why that number tho ? (nah nothing there either... i've got the chaos trinity and the weird tome, + the raw steel stuffs if anyone thinks that'd make a difference) DougyDougy - Dougy - DougyDougy [Edited 1 time, last edit on 2/21/2002 at 19:27 (GMT -5) by Dougy] |

Wow, you are one patient player Dougy, I would probably have gone insane after the 1000. scroll or someting... Guess the reason he figured 2048 is that it's a multiple of 1024, the number of byte in one kilo byte. Sort of a "magic number" in computer folklore... Jan Erik Mydland HoF admin |

Yar, it did get kindof dull there for awhile and had to take breaks... I got distracted from time to time. (i wonder what happens if i wish for an emperor moloch, or an eternium golem here, or read a scroll of familiar summoning) However i only just noticed that you posted the first bug report. Geeze u must of been adom'n for quite awhile. Hrmmm... isn't there 1000 bytes per kilobyte (1000 metres per kilometre, and such)... or is it actually 1024 and nobody's ever told me about it? All that binary number stuff. (actually that would explain why it says, on some files, they take up both 7.71kb and 7,899 bytes.) Dougy: Yes, it is 1024 bytes per kilobyte. And 1024 kilobytes per megabyte. And 1024 megabytes per gigabyte. And 1024 gigabytes per terabyte. And... Well, you get the idea. That's because computers don't use base-10 internally but base 2. The closest you can get to 1000 with base-2 is 1024 so that's why it's chosen. |

That was exactly my point. If I had to place myself in ID I would rather choose 2048 than 2000, and TB is a LOT better in computers than me for sure, so I thought 2048 is another possibility. Now you can only try 4096. And 8192. And 16384. And so on... ;)) |

Dougy: Well I started posting on the newsgroup back in 1997, don't recall how long I had been playing before that, probably not to long... The sad part is that I still haven't beaten the game after playing it on and off for like 5 years. Granted I don't play that much (couple of sessions a week) but still... Better than save-scumming, like I did, to win once, and having no reason to congratulate yourself. And have you any idea how annoying it is to be repeatedly killed by something-or-other because you have no reason to be careful, because you have a saved game backed up? Very annoying. More annoying than getting killed after a good battle, that you know you tried your best in, because you didn't have a save file... Anyway. Just today I came upon a "necromancer zombie"... thought that was funny. Somebody's been giving the old guy a taste of his own medicine, apparently. Die Gedanken sind Frei |

That's how i stopped save-scumming. More out of laziness then anything else. I'd decide at the start to save scum, realise just after i died that i hadn't even saved once. (rgra also nudged me a bit) Furthest i got without spoilers was the library, and couldn't figure out how to get out of the place. I never went down the CoC 'cos i heard all these rumours about corruption and was too scared. Perhaps there should be a fortune cookie message about that. "They say you're getting closer to your goal when you're getting corrupted more rapidly." or something. DougyDougy - Dougy - DougyDougy |
