Well I'm back from my hiatus and... nothing's happened. Oh well, hopefully we'll get some more progress soon.

This is about to change, as I send Rhea to vogonpoet. I just hope HE'S ready for her.

Yeah, email received, but might have to wait until tomorrow to download it - serbian dial-up connections make downloading huge scalable vector graphics a pain in the ass.. will the connection die before the download finishes? 5.7 KB/s wow, ptt is cooking on gas tonight...

I intend to continue to sort through casino stuff, and ID everything. Might even do some gambling and shopping - Rhea is a merchant after all. Back down to 2.4 KB/s...

She made it - download complete. Will probably play tomorrow though, after work.

Catch youse all later

vogonpoet, that game report really had me
laughing! Forgetting to put on the AMW before the
CL is pretty dangerous, I'm just glad it wasn't
the Archmage : )

It's great that the CL is dead, that was the most
dangerous point for quite a time. Sounds like you
handled him easily enough though. Good thing too,
I would have felt REALLY wierd about killing
those cats, if he had killed Rhea.

On a side note, I didn't know Wyrms could drain
stats.

Its kinda funny in a totally not funny sort of way - the AMW is so overpowered I tend to leave it on for the whole game, a habit which may have contributed to Rhea's pain.

As for the stats, I'll check when I get home. If it was just DEX, I might have put it down to being strained! in the casino, but I am pretty sure two stats were lowered - will try to include more concrete stats in final game report, rather than just a comedy of errors.

One of the dragons already dropped some 7LBs btw, so thats one item we can scratch off the shopping list.

You know, a W upside down - is an M. You could've described the vault a lot easier :)

Anyway, good job! Apart from the mild blunder, there was pretty much no way you could have handled this more efficiently.

I have this lovely signature in RL which kinda has 2nd order rotational symmetry due to my initials being MW, so I got a kick out of your reply Silfir.

However, I was in my usual overly pedantic mode thank you very much, so nah nah:

That's a bit of bad luck about the stat draining.
I for one, didn't know that great white wyrms were
stat drainers. The guidebook doesn't list them as
such either. No way for you to know really. Anyway,
with a couple of exp. level ups, I'm sure it more
than evened out.

I wish to put forth a few ideas about equipment,
of particular interest is this:

Should we try dipping the bracers of speed into
potions of exchange. There is a fair chance to
get bracers of resistance, which we could use
the scrolls of defense/protection on. Of course
that's not gauranteed, but I hope we don't wind
up dipping rings though.

If the 'bracers' idea doesn't fly, let's at
least use the scrolls on SOMETHING. The girdle,
the boots, whatever, I don't care what. I'm
counting a possible 6 points of DV and 2 points
of PV, that are just burning a hole in our
inventory. Let's put them to work for us.

Also, there are 7 scrolls of increase melee
accuracy and damage. I'm thinking the battle
axe of penetration, or some one-hander of
devastation, but anything is fine really.

A few potions worth drinking: potion of
learning, 3 uncursed potions of troll blood,
uncursed potion of raw mana, and the uncursed
potion of education.

One last suggestion... I promise : )
We should charge the teleport wand a bit. That's
not the kind of thing, one wants to do in an
emergency.

Good. I'm happy with going toward the gate : )

With the level up, PoGA and 'healthy' talent, we
are steadily building up to an Earth Temple victory.

> I had lots of them after me...They keep dissolving
> junk from our equipment

That had me laughing good!
You're supposed to drop your inventory on the
previous level, before those kinds of fights! : )
Don't sweat the equipment loss though, we'll pick
up more as we go. I do hope the 7LB's are ok though.

I agree on using the scrolls (we have SLBs now, right?) and the troll blood should definitely be blessed and used to get us a better healing rate.

Also we need to ditch all the junk we're carrying (there's no need to pick up so much worthless stuff!) and check out the Casino more. And Jesus Christ do we need some morgia... Can't believe we beat the cat lord with 200 HP.

I second the thoughts about the CL. A good piece
of work there.

I've kind of had an 'itching' feeling from the
start of this game... that I might wind up being
the player, who's turn falls on the Archmage.
After looking at the playing order, I'm trying to
add things up, and it seems a possibility.

I'm currently batting about 1 for 6 against the
Archmage in my own recent games. None of them have
been as well equipped as Rhea, but with the low
HP's, anything could happen. Regardless of who
faces the Mana Temple, it will be quite a
dangerous moment for Rhea.

Just had a match against Archus myself and he's really quite a guy. Had detect traps at 100, but I guess that being bloated counts for something as I managed to set off every single trap on my way in there. My amulet of light was of course destroyed, but he actually came out into the hallway almost right away. In darkness, with bracers of war, his bolts and rays took some 2-300 hp each hit.

I think if Rhea gets past MT, she'll go all the way. However, right now, she looks a fair bit from match form.

If something needs to be bought from the casino shop, why not buy them right away and not after restocking and doubled prices?

"You're supposed to drop your inventory on the
previous level, before those kinds of fights! : )"

Umm... Sorry if I sounded like I was desperate, just the situation was like this: stairs at the upper level was crowded with enormous amount of enemies and the vault entrance was open straight from the start to the stair room on the vault level. There just wasnt any other chance and thats why I went to the right part of the level to find room where to drop the necessary equipment and thats why I passed the turn limit coz I was so concentrated on it.... PHEW :D

Got it? I might sound like newbie but trust me, I know what to do in situation like that. But I know also how you feel.

Black dragons can be good if we dont have the acid immunity already. They are between us and stairs anyway or so. :)

Well I did think we ought to head back to the level with the herbs, and actually get some decent amount of morgia, and actually do our shopping in the Casino - earth temple will be easy if care taken with the axe, but Mana Temple...

Do the prices double after restocking???? I like never actually gambled there, and very rarely buy anything (in fact, I'm a Casino n00b, having only ever robbed it in the past).

Why we wouldn't tackle the Mana Temple? We have pretty hefty arsenal and IMO it should be easy with this character. She has light source, death ray resistance, massive damage output and so on... Well its true that she has low hp but I dont think its TOO low either.

Im not sure about that Casino restock thingy but what I know is: If you gamble, you must buy something. And: you must buy more than you have won.
Thats pretty annoying if you dont have much money when you start to play with the machines. I've once managed get stucked in casino level becouse the guards didn't let me go. :/

Firstly, when any shop restocks, (normally) new price tags appear, not only on the new wares, but also on (some of) the old. I think that either the whole shop gets new price tags or only the old items which are similar to new ones after restocking. The Casino Shop might also be special in some way. Anyway, if there is an artifact at 500 000 gp in the casino, it is likely that its price tag is considerably higher after restock (although a doubling might have been too much).

Secondly, I have never bought for more than I've won. If I've won 500 000, the guard lets me go after spending perhaps some 300 000 in the shop (no matter how much I had when I started).

Wyrmlance, maybe? We still have that, right?

You might look into using a penetrating weapon on them, too.

Wyrmlance should deal with them pretty nicely, though you may find yourself getting hit lots. If that's the case then I'd say switch to the devastating broadsword with a shield. The only one-handed penetrating weapon we have is destructable.

We're fighting white dragons, so using our penetration weapon is fine.

Not to mention that we not only have the axe. We also have the eternium two-handed sword of penetration. THAT would be as, if not more, effective than Wyrmlance.

I'd go all out and berserk with either of the two.

I don't think it's that good an idea to continue using our devastation swords. We should train two-handed weapons heavily up to the point where opponents can't hit us because we kill them first.

I thought it was black dragons... Oh well. I'd say Wyrmlance would be better than the 2-handed sword of penetration - quite curious to test that now actually.

Personally I prefer not to be hit through having supreme DV, which is more easily achieved through further shield training. I guess we'll all up alternating as we do whatever we want :P
