Wait, I see that you're sort of finished with maybe 1-2 switches remaining. Is there going to be another? 1l= Y0(_) [4l\l R34[) 7l-l15, Y0(_) l\/l(_)57 83 PR377Y G00[). |

I'm all in favor of finishing this one up, and starting another. Put me in the 'fool filter', where I belong! |

So am I. I second this proposal! It was great watching Rhea's progress and participating in her eventual victory. Going for 2nd win |

WHAT THE HELL - WE LEFT OUT A GREATER VAULT? I guess we can't finish this just yet... I have some giant asses to kick. EDIT: Kicked the giant asses. Look for Rhea's final legacy in the Game Reports thread! You drop the golden ball. You kick the golden ball. It slides to the west. Suddenly Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, appears! "That's not how you play Quidditch! are you even listening?" Which direction? (123456789) 4 Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, is hit by a bolt of acid! Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, is annihilated. You hear the ecstatic cries of a large crowd! [Edited 1 time, last edit on 5/6/2008 at 07:27 (GMT -5) by Silfir] |

Sweet. It's a shame we didn't have any royal jelly, to get rid of that one lonely scar. Ahh, a little scar just adds character : ) Roll another. Put me in the 'fool filter', where I belong! |

You put a pendant of beauty on at the end? Haha... I assume some giant corpses helped recover her strength a bit too... Was overall a surprisingly fast run - 84k turns, 73 days. Robes of resistance passed us by somewhere, but oh well. Well done everyone, this really was quite an amazing feat overall. A fair bit of luck too of course, but some luck we made ourselves ;) Molach asked before if you'd make a save before the end so he could add it to his high score list. Er, any chance you did...? Was thinking that might be nice myself. We going to do the same thing again, same format and all? I remember you mentioned having an idea for some rule changes, in the 'playing order' thread. If anyone has ideas, maybe we should toss them out now. I'm fine with the playing format as it is really. The only thing I see, that could be improved is the delay factor in between recieving the file, and playing the game. For some, it took many days, and the really long inactive periods made me lose a lot of interest in the character. Maybe we could mention something in the next 'playing order' thread. Something like: If you don't think you will be able to play the game within 48 hours of recieving the file, please send the file on to the next player. The player wouldn't have to be skipped, just bumped back one or two notches. There was also periodic confusion, of whether the file had been sent and recieved. It seems like that should be easily avoided. A simple 'file recieved' or 'file not recieved yet' post would help there. Should we consider a bump if a post like that is not up, say, 48 hours after the 'file has been sent' post? Put me in the 'fool filter', where I belong! |

I think that that would all be a good idea, as I sort of felt the same way during the long periods of inactivity. Some other ideas: 1) Add another challenge to the game besides the rotating format 2) Ultra ending (although I haven't done one myself yet) 3) Troll! =P They are worthy of a challenge game in and of themselves, I say! Going for 2nd win |

Troll would be interesting - our girl levelled way too fast when I last had her ;) Does mean some very advanced tactics though. Also random generation has a certain special appeal. Ultra ending I'm not so keen on - it takes ages, and requires a lot of effort that would be hard to co-ordinate. I also agree on the time restrictions for playing - it's best to keep the momentum going. My idea was for a different sort of challenge, far more competitive in nature. If people are more interested in another co-operative Rhea-like game then we should start that up again quickly and maybe consider my idea for later. I'll make a separate thread for my idea to see how many are interested. Waldenbrook, the dwarven shopkeeper, mumbles: "I'd offer 9 gold pieces for yer dwarven child corpse." |

Well - I missed the whole game so I don't really care, though if you make it too hard it will increase the chances of me screwing up :) 1l= Y0(_) [4l\l R34[) 7l-l15, Y0(_) l\/l(_)57 83 PR377Y G00[). |

This is the third time I'm trying to post, and it damn better work. First of all, I didn't make a save - I apologize profoundly. I even deleted the highscore file because I played Rhea to end on a work computer and had to delete ADOM afterwards. As for the future of the Roman Republic Game - I don't think the concept would mix well with challenges like ultra endings. The beauty of the thing was, in my eyes, that everyone could basically do whatever he wanted to. This doesn't mean ultra endings will be impossible. The first player could get a decent first kill, another player could manage to save Khelly, yet another player could decide to become chaotic and get Gaab'Baay quests... I think every one among us is keen enough to get an ultra ending that if the chances to achieve one were there, no one would actively sabotage them. But AGREEING on game restrictions and goals as a community... That sounds democratic. The result would be a Democracy game. Which can work too, but it wouldn't be a Roman Republic Game anymore :) You drop the golden ball. You kick the golden ball. It slides to the west. Suddenly Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, appears! "That's not how you play Quidditch! are you even listening?" Which direction? The forum does seem to be 'refreshing' it's self very frequently. I suppose that may be causing the difficulties in posting. An ultra can involve doing some pretty boring tasks, like getting a boar skull. It can take a really long time, and is not exactly fun. I would definitely hope I wasn't the player who got stuck with that! I see little reason to change the format. The last game worked out pretty nicely, I would say. Put me in the 'fool filter', where I belong! |

Going for an ultra would mean putting effort into saving Khelly too, and would mean it's best to get the library scrolls (I think whoever ends up with that task should be allowed double turns). But I agree with gut - keeping things the same is fine. With a random character it should be different enough anyway.
