Are we going to tackle the bandits? Or are we going to assume he's legged it?

I imagine he's legged it, plus I don't think the quest was obtained at the start. Besides, it'd be too easy a fight and we don't need the money.

Sorry if the post was rather long guys. I've got the week off so I got rather settled. Threw the adjusted lumberjack song in for you Darren. Didn't want to buy anything in the shop, since I didn't know what everybody was after specifically, we can always pick something up later. I'm going to have Ramirez join the thieves guild, learn all the skills and then eventually whoop Yergius' ass. He'll also want to take down Hotzenplotz later since Hotzy owes him a large sum of money which he never paid back. Business is business!

Hah, I was hoping for longer - you build up this hint of previous involvement with Hotzenplotz and then cut off right at the start of any chance for revelation! But now I see you possibly weren't thinking of anything too deep. Pity really - my mind's already started wandering down such paths. Need to sleep now though - will finish off my next post in the morning. For now I'll go to bed humming the weaponsmith song :)

I didn't want to get into anything too serious with Hotzy, because it seems that there is a hell of a lot going on with my character at the minute, and some of the others (the dwarf and the troll) have little to go with right now. If you've got an idea for Hotzy, throw it in man, I'll be only too happy to play along. Have him steal Ram's girl in the past or something, or maybe get him to hire us out to kill the sheriff, before we come back and kick his ass instead. I'm open to ideas!

Sorry for how long that took - got it half-written before going to bed last night. I wasn't thinking anything too deep with Hotzy, just that he and Ramirez probably had a shared history at Jak-Nagiur. Also got to considering why the "old friends" might have fallen out, and brought up a thought I had before on maybe why Ramirez ever left the black city.

Yeah, Thurgin and Lawf'okong could do with having a bit more brought into them. I was thinking with the former perhaps some interesting interaction in dwarftown or with Kherab. Not sure about the troll, but perhaps something to do with the forces of mana? He could maybe end up as an archmage in the end.

A note, anyone else Ramirez happened to know? Perhaps someone could have heard of Keethrax and try to reason with him? Also, I would like it if whoever writes the post about our fight with Keethrax later on that Jarlgan gets Mind Controlled. Some various things regarding more power could pop up, but would be interesting to have to fight him until Keethrax was dead. Also, we ever going to go back to Hawkslayer? He could have some sort of messed up past with one character (wanderers maybe?). Just throwing some ideas out there.

Well Ramirez is going to know OF a fair few people, since information gathering was part of his past life. So he'll be knowledgeable on a few things.

I love the Kranach hunting us down idea, really cool. Now that Kranach has run off, maybe we could have the aprty hunt him down, Ramirez challenge him to a duel, kill him, remove his head, throw it on Hotzenplotz's desk, whoop Hotzy's ass, steal his money, remove Hotzys head, and then cart em both to the sheriff? That could be great fun!

Ramirez will probably know the assassin prince though.

Heh, maybe Jarlgan could get bitten by a rabid dog, and Keethrax would take advantage of his weakened state. I also think Tarindil should try to turn Keethrax's animals against him using music. Amusing thought: Ramirez pick pockets a ring of djinni summoning, but ends up using it to revive the tiny girl's puppy :) Of course we'd have to do the puppy dungeon first, possibly with a mixed vault at the bottom (those things can be fiendish, especially if there are vortices).

As for other backgrounds with NPCs, obviously Ramirez will have a few considering he's a human with a dark side. Thurgin has a few opportunities given the number of dwarves in the game. Tarindil is unlikely to know anyone else - there's no other elves, and he's led a fairly sheltered life. Dunno about the orc and troll, what relations they could have with any folk in the Chain, though I imagine Jarlgan can have more interactions with the evil denizens.

Tarindil relates to Alhacrast and possibly the Mad Minsterel.

Lawf'okong doesn't seem to have previous connections but can relate to all lawful NPC.

Thurgin has relations to Kherab(dwarf) and other dwarves.

Jarlgan could have connections to Bart, but other than that just connections with chaotic NPC's.

I don't think we should kill Kranach for a while, he'd make a good challenge later (Kranach wants revenge and gathers a horde.

It seems like we are going to deal with Hotzenplots and then the puppy and then Keethrax.

Lawf'okong relating to Khelavaster would be quite interesting, since both are lawful wizards. Possibly even the source of the troll's inspiration to turn lawful and study magic? Something to consider, n00b.

Jarlgan has already had some intercourse with Gaab'baay (that sounds so wrong :P), and will have dealings with the demented ratling, most likely MaLaKaI and Keriax too.

Other NPCs to consider (though lets not get too into depth with all of them):

-Yggaz
-Old Barbarian
-Rehetep
-ratling rebel
-Nonnak
-the 5 orb guardians (they should all have a little personality)
-water dragon
-casino shopkeeper
-cat lord (I so want that ring - music and ventriloquism will help)
-white and black unicorns
-the two ancient dragons (karmic and blue)
-Filk
-emperor moloch
-Fistinarius

Most of these should just serve their game purpose, without special connection to our party members, but perhaps with embelished plot to widen the game's perspective (show something of their motives, background, etc).

SLB
Phase daggers
Masterwork sword (of unknown metal, Jarlgan's)
agate ring
miscellaneous rings
tiny tome (unidentified, possibly fire bolt or slow monster)
spellbooks of Ice ball, web, acid bolt, I don't know completely all of the spellbooks we have.
scrolls

Ok, I've done my small post. Hope the equipment is ok. Tried to give us all something to use. I've had Ramirez flip out a little bit, because he really wouldn't have liked to have just been teleported away like that. And technically, has teleportation control now, because he ate a blink dog corpse (and I wrote in that there is enough for one other person, whoever wants it?) The demon is going to make an appearance again soon, and possibly have a kind of face to face chat with Ramirez on another plane.

Oh, btw you've identified the bracelet. That is the reason for giving everything to Ramirez. Lawf'okong or Thurgin should ask about it. Otherwize Lawf'okong would be the one to do it. Anyone else would probably be staggering under the weight of all of the stuff that is identified except for b/u/c status.

Hah, I'd wondered for a while if you were from England based on your writing style, PeanutGod. Looking at your profile now confirms it...

If Ramirez wants the kitty ring he'd better show some love of cats :D Added in some hints that maybe Ramirez was unsettled by the bracelet - can be expanded later. I reckon the troll should get the blink dog corpse - he's the hungriest. Also, shouldn't Ramirez have picked up a few herbs in the UD?

ROFLMFFAO.

Oh my god, that last post was priceless Darren. Never envisioned Ramirez turning into a noodle over a cat. Genius!

Is it that easy to tell from the writing style where I'm from?

As for the bracelet, I was thinking that it would be something that wasn't an Adom item. Maybe just an average bracelet which has had a demon thurst into it (maybe by Alhacrast??). My bad on the herbs, I'll have Ramirez discover them in a forgotten pouch later on.

Well, even normal brass items get identified. However, sometimes the identity doesn't actually reveal the true nature of an item (you don't know what certain amulets do for instance, apart from trial and error). Ramirez could simply be angry that all he found out was "cursed rune-covered bracelet", knowing full well the curse doesn't go away. I'm guessing he has some suspicions that this bracelet is messing with his life, and is getting increasingly frustrated at not being able to do anything about it.

As for writing style, yeah, to me at least. Perhaps not the narrative so much, but the way Ramirez speaks is most definitely English in style (and not just from distinctive words like "bloody").

Jarlgan is sorta mind controlled and Tharandil is out for the moment (we do have spenseweed though). The cave bears can't be killed, unless Keethrax is dead. Sorry if I wrote us into a dead end, I can change my post. Wanted a really hard boss guy.
